Player Alias: Toebean
Character Name: Mikaela Banes (Bayverse)
Allegiance: Human
Appearance Description:
Long brown hair, blue eyes, about 5’2” in height. Slim stature.
Personality + Character Traits: Mikaela is a stubborn and fierce girl. While she may not have a physical prowess, she makes up for it with her determination and fiery attitude. She will not take shit from anyone and she will not allow herself to be walked over. This stems from receiving unwanted attention from men at the young age of thirteen throughout high school. She let herself get walked over in the past and now she won’t do it anymore.
Mikaela’s strengths include her undying loyalty, ability to think quickly, creatively, and on her feet, and her protective instinct. If someone needs help and she’s able to provide it, she will give it. If she can’t, she’ll either try her best or find someone who can. She also has a strong basis of knowledge of mechanics.
Mikaela’s weaknesses include her stubbornness, her initial distrust of people (especially men), and her temper. Mikaela can be the most stubborn girl imagined when she is focused on something— this can possibly be a good trait, but often times she will be stubborn about things that may harm her in the long-run. She’s very distrusting of men due to the experiences she’s had in the past of them objectifying her and treating her like arm candy. But some of her distrusting nature also comes from her mom leaving her and her dad when she was a child. Also, Mikaela has a volatile temper when she’s angry, and it’s best to avoid her until she simmers down.
Weaponry: Any tools that are lying around the shop.
History: Mikaela grew up very poor. Her mom left her and her dad when Mikaela was three, so she doesn’t remember much about her. Her dad tried his best to raise her, but he was involved in grand theft auto. Mikaela would sometimes come with him when he was thieving. That began her criminal record.
Growing up, she started out with petty thefts. Stealing food or a toy that she and her dad couldn’t afford. Sometimes she got away with it. Most of the time she got caught. When Mikaela’s dad was sent to jail and she stayed with her grandparents was when she got into major trouble. Mikaela started stealing from bigger places. Stealing more important things. When she stole a car, she was caught and sent to juvie at age thirteen.
After she was released and entered high school, she shaped up. She stopped stealing. Instead she started to give into the high school boys who gave her attention. She became their arm candy and something pretty to look at. It was when she graduated—something she never thought she would do—that she decided to take control of her life. She wouldn’t allow herself to be used by men. She wouldn’t play dumb to get men to like her. She was smart and cunning and if men didn’t like her that way, then that was fine by her.
Now she’s nineteen and still working at her dad’s shop. Her dad is usually in and out of jail and Mikaela works to help support them. She doesn’t go to college because she knows she can’t afford it and she wants to make sure that she’s there to take care of her dad. But she’s a hell of a mechanic and she’s fine with being a mechanic as her career.
Roleplay/Writing Samples: Mikaela wiped the sweat off her forehead. It was hot out in the desert and working as a mechanic sure didn’t make it cooler. But she loved working among cars. She liked taking things apart and putting them back together. It was almost therapeutic, once she was able to get in the zone.
Of course, sometimes that zone was broken by customers coming to talk to her or the occasional creep. But Mikaela had learned how to tune them out so she could complete her work.
“Hey!” she called out. “Call the man who owns this car and tell him it’s ready.”
Mikaela glanced at the clock on the wall. Did she have time for a short break? As she was pondering this, a new customer rolled in with a busted up car.
… Nope. Mikaela will have to take her break later, as all the others were busy with cars of their own. She plastered on her “customer service” face before going to greet the newest customer.
