Characters:Grimlock, Ultra Magnus Location: Vintage Salvage Depot for the Discriminating Nostalgist Content Warnings: N/A Plot Summary: Although technically placed on probation, many are still quite skeptical as to Grimlock's 'true motives'. When the to-the-book rule expert Ultra Magnus pays a visit, will Grimlock be able to convince the mech of his innocence, or will he fail miserably?
If there was anything Grimlock could say he liked more than punching things, it was getting to work with his new friends.
Probation wasn't exactly a bad thing, and it was certainly much better than being locked up in a stasis pod like all of the other Alchemor prisoners. He was finally getting out there, doing some good for himself and the world, and he still was allowed to punch the bad guys from time to time too! That was always a plus. It was something that the Dinobot wouldn't trade for the world.
The rest of the gang was out on patrol while Grimlock stayed put at the junkyard. Someone had to keep a watch over it, and there were only so many excuses they could come up with for why there was a giant robot t-rex running amok. He felt he could get creative with this at times, but just how many people were going to believe in a giant t-rex crane? Or a dinosaur car that clearly wasn't driving? True.. maybe he could have considered switching to a regular alt mode like the others, but he was happy with who he was. Well.. that and he didn't like any of the vehicles the others showed him. If he ever decided to change, it'd be a vehicle he would like and not something someone picked for him.
Regardless, he certainly hadn't been expecting company today, which was why he'd been planted directly in front of Russell and Denny's television set, watching a movie known as Jurassic Park. It'd certainly looked interesting, and he was quite excited by the 'dinobot' on the cover, but had been sadly disappointed to find it was more of a movie about humans running around a park where 'dinobots' got free and started attacking others. But that ending, though.. the part where the T-Rex fought off those Velociraptors. He punched the air above him, yelling in the process.
Ultra Magnus came in undercover. He'd stopped and picked up a bunch of junked vehicles that Ratchet kept around for a variety of reasons and carefully transformed so as to have them in his trailer. So when he arrived at the junk yard he appeared to have every reason to be there, nothing out of the ordinary for a car carrier to be bringing in more junked cars to a place that collected junked cars. Also meant he didn't have to drag the things back with him, which was dignity improving. Which was a goal unto itself.
As soon as the trundling gate had closed behind him, as soon as he'd backed into an empty lane between other wrecked cars, he transformed and let the wrecked vehicle simply fall behind him. Forgotten as he strode into the base and toward the sounds he could hear. He assumed somebody was here, or rather he knew that there had better be somebody here or else he was going to dress down the entire team for leaving their base unsecured and unprotected. "Hello, anyboty there?"
A junkyard to some, or rather.. most, but that wasn't how Denny Clay had viewed such a place. One man's junk was another's treasure, and he took that saying to it's most literal meaning. He was a collector, and a bit of a hoarder when it came to his collections, but it was what it was. What everyone else saw as nothing but junk, Denny saw it as his pride and joy, but second only to his one true treasure: his own son. Though.. some could argue otherwise at times, but he was excitable about things. What could you do? He was a bit stuck in the past at times, and rather than let his nostalgia die, he carried it to this so-called junk yard and built his vintage salvage depot from those remnants.
And who knew excitable more than Grimlock? He didn't care what this place was like. Home was home, and that's all he really cared about, well.. that and being able to punch things when he wanted. That was his favorite past-time after, all.
He perked up as the credits rolled during his movie, glancing towards the entrance. Huh.. He didn't think the team would be back so quickly. The Dinobot shrugged it off for a moment, until he heard a 'hello'. Someone was here, and it wasn't a voice he knew. Had the Decepticons invaded the base? Oh, he so wasn't having that!
Grimlock charged towards the entrance, only to find an Autobot there instead of a Decepticon. Had Bee snagged another teammate that he didn't know about? Ah well. Best to see what this guy wanted. "Hey, you lookin' for somethin'? Cause if you're lookin' for somebody, it's gonna have to be me for now. Rest of the group's out."
Ultra Magnus kept pausing, inspecting what should have been various regulation pieces of equipment and counter measures. What he was seeing, whether real or not, was tampered with piles of junk. Exposed wires here, a jerry rigged electrical harness there. It was... a mess. The entire place needed to have a clearer divide between the obfuscating junk yard that surrounded the base and the base itself. An immaculate divide if Magnus had anything to do with it. He still outranked Bee, it would be a topic of conversation as soon as he found the scout.
But Bee wasn't who came out to greet him. Instead it was one of the bots that Bee had collected unto himself for his little endeavor. He racked his circuits for a moment and then decided he hadn't met this one yet. He stopped, setting his hands on his hips at the response that sounded somewhat flippant to him. "You neglected to add 'sir' to that, soldier. And who exactly is 'me'? Your introductions need work."
Just what was this guy talking about? Grimlock tilted his head a bit, scratching at it's side with one of his digits. Grimlock hadn't been a soldier, nor had he referred to anyone as 'sir' before, so it only confused him that much more. Closest he'd ever been in in an army would be the very group he was in at the moment with Bumblebee, but that didn't count. That had been more of a group of friends. A team. Nothing as complicated as a strategic military operation of sorts.
The mech's question, however, had been far simpler to answer. Just who was he? Oh, he certainly had an answer, and it was going to be a good one.
"You know.. Me. Grimlock? Eh. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised that you don't know me. I mean, I was formerly a Decepticon and all, but hey! I'm on probation, now." Grimlock flashed a grin to Ultra Magnus, genuine and sincere. It only at that moment dawned on him that he had no clue just who this guy was. Was he here to see Bumblebee? Or maybe he just dropped by to say hi?
"So what do I call ya? Here to see Bumblebee by chance?"
