Player Alias: @wubziii
Character Name: Gateway
Allegiance: Neutral
Appearance Description: Gateway appears much like a standard Vehicon, albeit notably larger and more evenly armored. They also bears a different color scheme, that being ivory, gunmetal grey and gloss black with green glow to any areas bearing such. They stand at 33 feet or 10 meters tall, their alt being a 6 wheeled truck of Cybertronian design, though with all wheels replaced with hover jets. They still wear a customized Vehicon mask, obscuring the face they quite possibly may not have at all. A large backpack is also upon him, bearing a rather large subspace pocket home to three Dr. Octopus-like tentacles which can even be used to support Gateway's own weight.
Personality + Character Traits: Gateway is glad to be freed of his Decepticon position and by extension holds a distaste for leadership in general. They are very improvement oriented because of their past, always wanting to be worth something. This led them to become the skilled technician they are now, opting for use of technology around them than direct combat. This trait is the centerpiece of his skill set, and their primary course of action.
Gateway is generally asocial, but will form strong familial bonds with those he can be close to. To warm up to them, you have to really support him and his decision to abandon the Decepticons, as he is actually insecure of his life and choices. This is not only an emotional weakness, but it also drives him to seek out support, which can go against all anti social qualities of himself sometimes, even critical life choices such as betraying the 'Cons.
Gateway is actually quite spiteful, and will hold grudges. They don’t really forget a face, and Megatron’s is one they remember most for the amount of hate they hold to the Lord. Under any sort of control, Gate is very rebellious, not being one for control. This distaste of control is a lot more than one would think, though, in that Gate actually cannot handle a lack of control. They stress and wear down when left without options and when under pressure of others, to the point of mentally just shutting down. They hold ideals that could be considered questionable, in that any way to end the war fastest is certainly the fastest. There was once an ideology they held, but along with the team they had, it was lost and they simply cannot rediscover it.
There are some sad truths to Gateway, really. With the loss of their team, their long suppressed traits due to the life of a Vehicon reemerged. These go over sense of being below others, so no matter how “above you” or “proud” they seem, underneath they still feel weak, and are apologetic and fearful for this reason. Besides that, Gate is very easily a good ally to have, but hard to get to that position.
Side Note: Gate will never truly join a faction, but may associate with faction members.
Weaponry: Gate has a simple weapons array. These are simply two shoulder missile arrays, arm blades, a standard Decepticon prison taser prod and his tentacle backpack. The tentacles don't necessarily have the speed to get any sort of effective impact out of them, but rather they make good links to technology or can even grab opponents to disturb them that way. He tends to use them for short term advanced transport, though.
History: Gateway used to be a Vehicon guard at the Darkmount prison. When the war had reached a severe point, Gateway was taken into an attack squadron. This group was very efficient, and they were given an extremely important task to disable Autobot defenses during an assault. The team was given an elite tech specialist. As they approached the goal during the infiltration, the specialist was eliminated. The squad leader called an immediate retreat, but Gateway went to the console and set the defenses against the Autobots. The attack was successful, but Gateway was sentenced to death for defiance.
Shortly before their execution, a third, generally unknown faction, freed them for their skill in technology, on their way out of the prison they had served as a guard in not too long ago, they grabbed a taser prod for both sentiment and use. During their time as a member of this third faction, Gate was partially remodeled and trained in their skill set. In time they blossomed into the technician they are now.
The Convergence however has rendered this third faction just a blur of memory. Gateway doesn’t really know how they became this way anymore, just that they did it in spite of the Decepticons. The giant gap of memory however is quite irritating, but Gate simply cannot figure it out. So they now search for competent company, and regrettably these standards might be a tad high.
Roleplay/Writing Sample:
The unusual vehicle floated into the dunes, kicking dust in every direction with its jets. A sudden transformation followed it's slow stop, a bot landing onto their pedes. Examining their surroundings, Gateway sighed and let their shoulders sag. This was it, wasn't it? They were all gone. Every single one of Gate's comrades, all vanished. Now they were stranded on this mudball called Earth.
"Is there anyone there?" Gate exclaimed into the empty desert. There was no blessing of a response, bringing their spirits down furthermore. Changing back to their vehicle form, Gateway began heading further into the dunes. The questions of whether they should have really left the 'Cons, even if they died, flowed through Gate's mind actively.
What even could be done anymore? Gateway was stranded from what it seemed. Not a hope could be found in them now.
