Player Alias: @astrinal
Character Name: unknown
Character Alias: Tarn
Allegiance: Decepticons
Appearance:
Tarn's metal is known for it's durability and strength. As a mid-tank class fighter, Tarn's fluoro-titanium alloy armor is the perfect match. Tarn's armor is strong, but isnt as heavy as normal titanium ( but does disable some movements ). Tarn's armor is made of three layers, each getting thicker the father down you go. The thickest areas are on his arms, chestplate, backplate, lower extremities, lower body, thighs, shins, toe-of-the-foot, fists, lower collarbone, and face. The thin-est parts of his armor are on his upper neck, back of his neck, shoulders, elbows, knees, and heels.
Tarn's frame is sharp and boxy, giving him lean/muscular feel. His shoulderpads- made from his tank treads- balances out his thick shins, forearms, and small midsection. Tarn's double-barrel riot cannon is un-retractable. this a bad and good thing. he can use it as a shield, but he can also damage his main gun.
His most prominent and notorious feature is his faceplate. It possesses the shape of the all to familiar decepticon insignia, and flashes a neon purple light in some creases. tarn's mask is made out of the same material as his armor: fluror-titanium.
Personality:
Like most sadists who hunger for the pain of others, Tarn is a very complicated individual. Some would say he is mixed-emotioned, able to change at any second. This is not true, he is a very controlled person. He's actually pretty level headed. But at very. very. very low levels. Because honestly, he's not that normal. Complicated, like I said.
>> When meeting Tarn for the first time, he is intimidating to look at. Adding his reputation, he's almost impossible to look at. Not without feeling he's look at you. Tarn is very up-held around these new individuals, unlike some of his comrades in the DJD. But don't think you're safe. He won't hesitate to 'show' you what happens if you doubt the 'cons for one second. He can sense it in your spark.
On other days, Tarn likes to get 'creative'. He'll toy with someone to make them feel bad, or to get them in line. No, not by beating and hitting them, but by talking to them. Getting under there skin. Honestly, I'd rather be the guy who's watching the events, not being under the word cannon. It's that terrifying.
Tarn's voice is actually quite powerful. Everything he says literally makes him sound serious and freakishly believable. This is his 'weaponized conversation' skill, whether he's using it intentionally or not, the world may never know.
Tarn hates direct orders. During combat is fine, but when it involves the DJD, he will hear the person out, but his response will be the same: The DJD operate on their own. The DJD do not follow the decepticon leader, but they follow the cause and it’s rules.
>> Around comrades, Tarn isn't afraid to take charge. He doesn't dare act intimidating. But he has to keep some form of leadership amongst the DJD members. Especially with the newcomers arriving. Tarn isn't afraid to express some of his views with the members, or rant about how 'so and so did this and this'. He also isn't afraid to share his addiction to tcogs, which they should know by now.
When a teammate dies, Tarn has mixed feelings. Although it is a decepticon way to not mourn over the fallen, it sucks that Tarn has to look for a replacement. He also feels as if he'll have to re-trust the person all over again. And honestly, he doesn't care about the name-change. It never changes. Things will get back to normal...
Tarn has two kinds of mad. 'Annoyed' mad, and 'Im gunna fking kill you' mad. When he's annoyed at extreme rates, he'll merely shut a conversation down with his words. If, however, he's over his max, he won't hesitate to kill you.
>> Tarn has no enemies. But he does hate every single traitor to the decepticon cause. He wants to see them suffer, to bend to the Decepticon's will. Even if that means baking them, cutting them, electrocuting them, or grinding them in a blender. Tarn especially likes to talk to the said individuals, unafraid to make the scream and suffer as there spark is slowly being squeezed. Very, very, slowly.
During torture, Tarn's methods are slow and calm. Some days, he'll feel like being a complete douche, and the other, be 'that' guy. But he will never ease. Not for the 'things' these people have done. However, he NEVER does any intel gathering during these sessions. He only wants to satisfy himself with their pain.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
Strengths :
= weaponized conversations
Tarn's most notorious weapon is his ability to 'talk' someone to death. And that's no joke. With his favorite music playing, and quoting 'Towards Peace' (a series of Megatron's political writings that Tarn absolutely admires), Tarn's voice will feel like acid had just prickled your spark, and sometimes a series of indescribable feelings.
= close combat overpowerment
Tarn has slightly over-average strength and armor endurance. If Tarn fights someone in close combat with his canons and voice, Tarn will easily overpower them. However, Tarn has never been good at crowd control, so he can only empower people one-at-a-time. However, this doesn't stop him from fighting more than one target.
= i like 'talking', not 'people'
Tarn has a way with words, obviously. But he can do more than just 'talk' someone to death. With such a high Charisma skill set, Tarn can easily manipulate the average mind with his complex speechcraft. From his reputation during the exodus, and maybe recently, Tarn already has an intimidating vibe.
Weaknesses :
= vocal disruption
There are two sides of this: The external and internal side. Internally, if you mute Tarn, you have saved yourself from harm and a boat-load of Megatron quotes. Externally, if you cannot hear Tarn, you are at a safe distance. This is normally at a far-range (in weapon-range relation). Secondly, Tarn has to be able to hear your spark in order to manipulate it.
= earth withdrawal
Tarn isn't as known to use the darkness, like some of his DJD members. He can tolerate it, unless he's in a cavern- or anywhere underground under sea level. The silence is distracting, and it counters his ability to hear sparks. He hates it with every part of his sadistic mind. So If you want to kill Tarn, make sure you lead him underground.
= damn rock music
Tarn loves music, but he hates rock music. He can tolerate the alternative stuff, but the heavy metal- gut screaming music is where he'll literally want to kill you. Plus, it distracts him (because he merely wants to shut the damn wailing off).
= what the hell electricity?
Tarn’s armor may be able to withstand physical damage, it isn’t EMP or electrical friendly. Infact, it may be easier to STUN Tarn instead of actually shooting him.
Abilities:
>> weaponized conversation
Tarn does not have a physical melee weapon, but he does have a natural ability to 'talk someone to death'. Tarn is a mech who indulges himself in his advanced vocal processors, which can ultimately squeeze the life out of a spark- just by speaking. His voice is nothing more than a gentle squeeze. There’s also another side to his voice, where he can hoax the spark into giving up, or bending to his will. This form of speaking is used during torture, or when he needs his way on a certain matter.
Weaponry:
part I - guns
>> double barrel riot cannon
Tarn's double barrel riot cannon- by idea- sounds pretty cool. However, tarn's double barrel riot cannons are weaker than the average cannon, but shoots faster. Tarn's cannons has a 6 shots- three for each barrel. not to mention there's a pause in between each shot, about a quarter of a second. This makes this gun efficent at a short-medium range. Shooting at a long range will only give people a headache, and some accidental explosions. If Tarn uses his cannon to much (4+ more per a post), Tarn's cannon overheats (1 post delay before next use).
>> vehicle mode converted rocket launchers
Tarn has a set of rocket launchers ( tcog compatible, comes out of his back, and over his shoulder). The firepower from these rockets are great, but take a while to reload (2 post cooldown for BOTH guns). Like his riot cannon, Tarn's rocket launchers can be incapacitated, but most by a melee strike to the back. These rockets are hooked up to a targeting system in his mask (50/50 accuracy), and are decent at mid-long range.
part II - gadgets
>> Targeting computer
A gadget in his mask gives Tarn a 50/50 hit rate for his rockets at LONG RANGE.
>> Spark detection
Tarn normally has a hunch when an enemy is nearby. Just a hunch... Just kidding! However else can Tarn control sparks? In order to control he needs to be able to sense the spark, to hear it.
History:
To some, Tarn is a legend, like most of the DJD. His history is unknown, most like to think his information is classified. But honestly, most of his backstory isn't even documented. And quite frankly, not even Megatron himself may know. And that is something most would carry with pride. Not Tarn, he merely wants to make his faction proud.. no matter what.
Before Tarn was apart of the DJD, He had been associated with the Empyrean Suite. He used the hymn to drown out the screams of inmates as he executed them with the prison smelter. At one point, the smelter had stopped working, and he made a deal with a traitor-autobot to exchange 50 inmates to fix the smelter. He later killed the 50 of them, after claiming he had let them free.
At some point after this, Tarn became the leader of the DJD from unknown conditions. During this time period, Tarn became addicted to tcogs. During a visit to Messatine, Tarn had forced a doctor named Pharma to feed this addiction (by supplying cogs from deceased patients. gross, right?). In exchange, Tarn promised his team would ransack the hospital.
After this, Tarn hunted with the DJD. Over twenty five names were taken off of the 'list', and many more were added. At one point, while hunting for a deserter, Tarn had come to blows with a deadbrain dinobot named grimlock. During this recessions, Tarn had also learned that Megatron had defected from the decepticons. This lead to a near-suicide attempt. Even though he was disappointed with the feeling, he met an autobot-converted-decepticon known as Nickles.
For the rest of the Exodus, The DJD dwindled in numbers. While they were looking for a mech known as ‘Pharma’, the Peaceful Tyranny was ambushed, splitting the group in half. Tarn believes that Tesarus, Helex, and Vos are dead, Which left him and Kaon to continue there job- unless they found suitable replacements for there lost ( and probably dead ) team members.
There travels brought Tarn to Earth, where he seeks out Pharma. Due to his tcog addiction, he needs to restock. But since he’s no longer stationed in Messatine, he wonders if Pharma’s usefulness has diminished. And with news, he also learns Drift- another target- is on the loose. Only time will tell how the story plays on-
Rp Example:
Tarn wasn’t the kind of mech who had extraordinary hearing. But avoiding the sound of this mech’s leaking energon was harder than ignoring the Empyrean Suite. The sound gave Tarn an unusual rush of excitement, almost as if he wasn’t already indulged in this mech’s misery and pain. Like usual, the leader of the DJD was deep in thought. He had to choose his words carefully, a disruption in his voice’s harsh whispering would prove unprofessional. Primus forbid giving this mech a break.
Tarn turned his body to face his victim. He was a deserted, foolish enough to seek his own path away from the Decepticon cause. Two counts of theft, and one count of sabotash. Pretty petty compared to some cybertronians on the list, but he didn’t care. Any act against the Decepticon cause was punishable. And honestly, he needed this damn mech’s t-cog. That’s besides the point.
The mech he was looking at was Dark Maroon, with streaks of white and grey. He was pretty sure he was a medic. Of what branch of Decepticons he didn't know. But the crosses on his shoulderpads gave it all away. Tarn approached with a series of quiet steps. The mech didn't struggle, or even bother to look up. He had a rough session with Kaon, which had probably scorched his circuitry to it’s base. Any means to move was- well- painful.
“Pity, you're already toasted to your basic gridding. Kaon gave me nothing to fiddle with.” Tarn grumbled. Tarn brought himself to the mech’s level, in which he sat back on his heels. “I mean, there wasn’t much to work with anyways.” Ugh, I grabbed the low hanging fruit. That was cheap.
“Anyways, you must be asking yourself: why am I here? What’s the big deal with me leaving the decepticons? Well, there’s a one thing wrong with that: you left the cause you had devoted yourself to. And you betrayed the trust you had in it..” As he spoke, he crept closer. His voice was slowly decreasing in volume. “You must also be asking yourself why I'm talking to you right now. You’ve met my friend Kaon, and compared to me, how dangerous am I? You already know you're going to die, and you don't want to live to hear anymore of my words.” Ugh, stretch your vocabulary man..
“But you see? I have a- gift. Most call it an abnormality, but I consider it a blessing. Weaponised conversation they like to call it. I can slowly hoax your spark into giving up. To just- slow down and stop..”
And then he heard it: the groan. It was quite priceless, how weak and it was. He was so close to death. Jeez, Kaon got a little greedy. “But you see, Now that you're so certain you’ll die, we have hoaxed your spark. Because I’m telling you it is, and you believe me. To be quite honest, it’s quite an extravagant system…”
He paused, he was sure the mech wasn’t listening. His sparkbeat had- stopped. Tarn’s opticals narrowed behind his infamous mask. With a simple flick of his hand, He revealed a syringe of cyber-adrenaline in his servo. It didn't take long for him to jab it into the mech.
"I don't think we're done here.."
