Plot Summary: Sideswipe returns early from his patrol shift. Thinking he made a clean get away from skipping his duties, he is greeted by the newest member of the Bee Team, Embergaze.

It was Sideswipe's turn to go on patrol today, and like many of Sideswipe's previous patrol rounds they were cut short. Why even bother with patrols here on Earth? Cybertron was understandable, the threat of an Decepticon armada was serious, especially after the seige on Iacon.

But Earth? There was noone out on the road other than the humans. Even if there was a Decepticon lurking around, they'd knock you out before you even noticed. Why not just let them come at the base so they can face the whole team at once! It wasn't like everytime the Decepticons showed up at their doorstep someone was out on patrol. It's just pointless to Sideswipe.

The scrapyard wasn't too far away now, so Sideswipe sped up. The quicker he got back, the more free time he'd get. Once in jumping distance, Sideswipe transformed into his robot mode and jumped over the border wall of the Scrapyard (or "salvage depot" as Denny would say) and landed softly on the ground, making very little noise as possible. Sideswipe stood up fully and checked his chronometer, 20 Earth minutes left until he can jump over the wall again and re-enter the Scrapyard via the entrance.

Now, time to find Russel so they could play some Earth video games. Sideswipe then began to walk cautiously around the scrapyard, if he were to be caught 20 minutes early from patrol, then he'd be in serious trouble, despite the fact he mostly did the whole course around the surrounding area.

Life have rules. Rules have rulers. Rulers have responsibilities. Resonsabilities… Nevermind, Sideswipe didn't know this word.

She arrived today. White, black, teal and blue, she had this highly visible red symbol. White and black for the cops, blue and teal to show her coldness. Unfriendly and living only for the law, Embergaze seemed like the caricature of the ranking policeman... But contrary to what everyone might think, she breaks the rules in the most illegal manner possible. How? Maybe you'll know one day. Who know.

She was ordered to stay at the base currently. The others were on a mission, except for one. Sideswipe. She was warned that he would return soon. This was 15 minutes she was here and she was already alone. This team really trust anyone and she noted this problem. Bumblebee didn't seem to actually use rules. This would quickly annoy her.

Suddenly someone came. She was walking on the shelves and decided to come watch discreetly. Red, blue eyes. Surely an Autobot. She noticed the symbol easily, even on the red bot. She approached his back, as she always did. This often scares others. That's how she have fun, apparently.

- Designation, please.

She looked at the door. He had to jump over on arrival because it doesn't automatically closed as she had seen earlier. This guy seemed agile. The sword in his back was an additional evidence. Given his appearance, he was surely one of those fast in vehicle. Something else? Just look at his face. He looks like a rookie. That's what Ember think when she meets a stranger for the first time. She begins to decipher and make theories. She looked at him again.

- Your arrival was less silent that your jump. Given the noise, I would say 90km/h, approximately.

She crossed her arms, optics narrowing, almost seemed displeased. The noise wasn't that bothered her. It was most… something for native's security.

- It's 55, on this road.

Poor Sideswipe. A second Strongarm! She then appeared normal again. More or less. She should learn to make friends and become more friendly. It was a difficult thing for her ... Because she had no friends for years.

To say Sideswipe wasn't surprised would be false on a lot of levels. When Embergaze spoke up, Sideswipe jumped with a small yelp. The red mech turned around, with his servos raised, to see what caught him by surprise. A femme that was also an Autobot. Sideswipe would've thought that his was a vistor, like Windblade used to do before she fully joined the team, but the way she said "Designation, please" it sounded like she was apart of the team. Now that he had idenitfied who caught him off guard, Sideswipe stood up casually with his srms hanging down. He said his name.

"Sideswipe, and you?"

The tone he used when saying "and you?" was his attempt at being intimidating. His attemot wouldn't really work though as he recovered frim being jumped. Sideswipe internally began to cry of both happiness and sadness at the same time when Embergaze talked about he speed limit. Another Strongarm both meant all the more jokes he could pull, and the more time he'd be in pain listening to rules and restrictions. It was a win-lose situation.

It wasn't a problem for Sideswipe to listen about the speed limit, but what bothered him was that he was caught coming back early. He had to make an excuse. What better way to make an exuse based on what he was told.

"Of course. I know what the speed limit is. But what if there was Decepticons attacking the base and the team need my sweet moves to save them."

Translation: I just broke the speed limit to play games.

Sideswipe seemed to be this kind of you bot who don't respect the rules. A rebel. She was older than him and even Strongarm. She had experience and this tend to prove that you need to take care of rules to survive in every world. This guy, “Sideswipe”, was clearly a civilian. He was armed but was not aware of his actions. Travel faster than the normal drawing attention and this was a problem. In addition of that, his excuse was just… terrible. Stupid for the girl. She raised an eyebrow, remaining as cold as an iceberg. She will not educate Side, of course. It's not her job and ... she knew that she had ti work with hier comrades, no matter their character. Individual differences are a strength.

- Noted.

What answer to the excuse? That it was stupid and totally thoughtless? No. It was obvious that he had hurried to come rest or enjoy his free time. He was young. That was normal. She had always hated caring for recruits. She had not enough patience. She simply extend a hand in greeting.

- I'm Embergaze. I arrived this morning. I was transferred from the other base. I am in charge during the absence of Bumblebee.

She cocked her head, puzzled by something. Her gaze turned to the blades of Side'. Swords but no ranged weapon visibly. A perfect opposite of her… But it could be useful. She looked at him again. She would create an intern record for each member of the base. In her mind, of course.

- I see that the protocol and you are not friends. Do not do stupid things, and there will be no problem.

She would be less annoying than Strongarm on this point. However she did not seem sociable. If was almost scary. She narrowed her eyes suspiciously. She was eager to know his answer.

Sideswipe raised a brow at Embergaze. She was in charge while Bumblebee was out? The newcomer of the team Bee was incharge while Bumblebee was out?- The more Sideswipe thought about, the more okay he was with it. At least it wasn't Strongarm. But why was Bumblebee out? The idea of a Decepticon sprung to mind, but Bumblebee would of sent a commlink to hurry back or meet at a rendezvous.

Could Embergaze be a Decepticon and has managed to knock everyone out and it would only be up tp Sideswipe to save them? He could ask right then and there but that could end up horribly. It would be better to slip in the question later, make it seem to keep the conversation going without raising suspicion. Clever thinking, Sideswipe.

Sideswipe saw Embergaze lend out her hand for something the humans called a"hand-shake". He'd. seen Denny,mRussell and many other humans in Crown City do it before as he drove by. Sideswipe also remembered this might be a trick, like there being an electric shocker somewhere in her hand.

Sideswipe slowly opened up his hand to grap Embergaze's and shook it. There was no shock yet. Sideswipe mentally rolled his optics as the femme told him to stay within the rules. Like that was going to happen.

"Yeha. Sure. Do you know where Bumblebebe and the other's went?"
