Today was rather misty, but it was better than being cold. In fact, anything other than frigid climates were perfect for Stormgear. The only downside was the clarity in the area. For some, three fourths of a mile visibility was great. But not for what she was doing. Sharpshooting required clearly skies, so you can see your target and take a shot. But she had to practice before her exam Tuesday. Something about being cleared to use the weapon.. Ultra Magnus’s words, not hers.
Pulling the trigger on her last warm up shot, she nearly missed the target. She cringed by how she was missing the two hundred foot shot. All because of the weather. The terrain didn't help either. Stormgear had made her practice grounds in the middle of the southern alaskan wilderness, ideally in a clearing a mile wide and hilly in all directions. It may have been exotic enough for targets, but otherwise it a less-than-decent shooting range.
However, today she wasn’t using the targets. She was using a series of flying target drones she’d made ( kinda copying something Raf did a while back. Or that’s what she heard from Ratchet ). They were small, with red x’s on their bellies. They were few, but it made her training efficient. Moving targets were better than still ones!
Stormgear brought her hub computer- a tiny gadget on her wrist- in her line of sight. She pressed a little button in the corner, and the main screen shifted into a map of the area, and three red dots. The bogeys. She’d launched them earlier so they could ascend and get lost in the sky. Now was a matter of shooting them. With this in mind, she brought her servo back to the upper base of her rifle. A fairly average rifle, only with a switch near the trigger. There were two labels: stun and normal. Right now, it was switched to normal.
“Alright kid, time for the real fun..” She said to herself.
