Sari was likely correct about being sappy company. Still. If her mood could switch easily depending on what she gave her attentions to, Sev calculated a good knife could pin her. No. The impact and size of the wound would likely kill her. Nevermind. The vehicon made the small correction to himself, after Sari gave the sour comment on Sev’s more negative input.
The conversation went on, and to Sev’s astonishment, the young human didn’t eat much else except for ‘food and water’. As far as he knew, ‘food’ covered a broad variety of consumable objects. But last he checked, energon wasn’t on the menu. Sev grunted at Sari’s response, and once more he took a second to glance at his HUD’s readings.
A faint energy signature. Sev tried to broaden the radius of what his scans could detect. There were humans in the city, but none of them bore the signature. He frowned. Was sari some kind of exception? Did she have some sort of odd gene? Never being one for science, Sev didn’t go much further than that.
“Sari, you’re emitting a strange reading. It’s as if…you’re some kind of…I don’t know. Are you positive you humans don’t eat energon?” Sev asked scratching the back of his helm, trying hard to come up with a conclusion to why Sari was emitting the signal.
“Do you have some sort of artifact with you? Or a strange looking crystal?” The vehicon tried for a logical answer. Surely, Sari was aware of this signature right? She had to be.
There was a time where Sev seemed to be a little too thoughtful, and it only made Sari curious. Had he really been that baffled by the fact that humans just needed food and water? Sure they needed medicine and vitamins and such to stay healthy too as needed, but it was primarily just food and water. The girl certainly didn't see anything strange about that, but knew that Cybertronians fed off of Energon.
Whatever it was, it completely went over Sari's mind.
A look of confusion wove itself onto her face as the Vehicon asked her about a strange energy reading, one that she had apparently been emitting. "Uhh... no? I'm pretty sure it's not me. Humans don't eat Energon at all. I think there might be something wrong with whatever you're scanning me with if that's... Hey! Why are you scanning me anyway?" Instantly she wrapped her arms around her chest and took a step back.
Creepy.. even if that wasn't even close to what he was doing.
"I, uh.. I don't.. oh!" She couldn't think of any strange artifacts on her person, but thought of something after looking at the situation a little differently. The red-head held up the phone in her hand, showing it to Sev. "I think this is what your scanner's picking up on?"
"As you humans say, 'old habits die hard.' I often try to make sure no Autobot's in the area. Today I'm unfortunately lucky with my scans." Sev answered Sari's exclamation levelly.
Sev considered the phone. It was a small device, and likely didn't run on energon. Still. His scanners indicated the signature he was picking up on was right infant of him. Sari could be correct on this matter. He thought, as his visor focused on the phone.
"Hmm. I'm picking up on something Cybertronian Sari. Then again, your phone could be a minicon. Or perhaps very well made tech." Sev said aloud to her, thoughtfully stroking his chin.
"There's one way to find out if the signature is coming from your device or not." With that, Sev plucked the phone from Sari's out held hand, placing the small object within his palm. It rested there for a second, the next, Sev squeezed. He He barely felt the phone grind in his servo. Barely a minute slipped by as he spoke again,
"Hmm. Bad news. Your device wasn't the source of the signature at all." Sev shook his helm gently, "I hate mysteries." Sev frowned discontentedly. The vehicon's visor returned to Sari, unaware of how valuable the phone may have been, believing it to be expendable. To him, the device looked primitive enough on the outside that it could easily be replaced. Not to mention, Sari was wearing recently decent clothes. She looked rather clean, so the brood she'd been born with was likely well off.
Sari stared as Sev began to inspect her phone. She wasn't too happy about it being plucked from her hands like so, but hopefully he wouldn't do anything that would damage the phone.
Hopefully..
"Only one way? What would that b-."
Before she could even finish, she stared in horror as the Vehicon suddenly crushed her phone. Her eyes widened, but only for a moment. Quiet anger built up within her until it just eventually blew up. "HEY! Do you even know how much those cost! That's going to take me another month's allowance!" Sure, her dad was rich and all being the head of a major robotics industry, but that didn't mean she had to run to him and ask him to buy her all the things. In fact, he'd likely just invent something for her.
..thus, Sparkplug, the mischievous robot dog wonder.
Whatever signal Sev was talking about, it still seemed to be around. "What are you going to destroy next, my wallet? Maybe your sensors are just screwy. Either way, I'm still mad about my phone." The girl crossed her arms with a small huff, acting just as childish as ever.
Sari's words made Sev regret his action, as it had ticked her off. He'd this 'phone' was easily acquired. After all, practically every human he drove by had one on them. Still. It hadn't been something nice at all.
"Considering the phone is the only thing on you that is mechanical, nothing else is worth testing. Unless you want me to rip your clothes or stomp on your wallet, no, I won't do much else." Sev put calmly, before stroking his chin. "Energy signatures usually mean artifacts, or other Cybertronians. I was scanning you because I wanted to know if you had one on you. You don't." Sev sighed. The energy signature was still there.
"Maybe you're right. My scans are second rate. They're likely acting up." Sev nodded, "Unless your a Pretender of some sort, I'm getting to this later." Sev shook his helm. So much for all that trouble. Maybe he could find someone he could trust to look into this. Maybe the energy signature was a result of Sari secreting some sort of chemical. No, that can't be it either. With that, the vehicon moved on. Sari was angry with him at the moment. He looked at the pile of scrap in his servos, now worthless. Gently, he opened up a compartment in his fore-arm, tipping his cupped servo so that the scrap slid into his fore-arm. He'd make it up to her.
"Sorry about that." Sev realized his carelessness. He wouldn't have liked it if someone else had done that to his things. Maybe he could cheer her up? No Decepticon commander was around. "...would you be interested in a drive, or getting somewhere fast?" Sev offered.
"I'd rather you didn't check my clothes or wallet?" Sari was horribly confused, as well as slightly offended, but now understood why he was doing what he was doing. He thought that there was something in the area that was Cybertronian, but Sari didn't think there was anything else there. Nothing she had on her person was Cybertronian, and it was hard to miss another of their kind when they were transformed. Plus there weren't any other vehicles around.
"A Pretender? What are you trying to say, that I'm some sort of robot or something? I would think my dad would know if I were some sort of alien robot girl.. thing." It seemed funny to Sari, but little did she know that she actually was Cybertronian. She really was where the signal was coming from.
"A drive? Am I sure I can trust you? I mean.. there sort of is a thing about people jumping into stranger's cars and such, buuuut.. how fast do you drive?"
Sev shrugged at the mention of Sari's Dad. Whoever it was, it sounded like her Sire. The way she said it was like the way a sparkling spoke of their Sire anyways.
"Just a theory really. The probabilities of it being true are rather High low." Sev assured her. Apoparently the prospect of being some sort of robot wasn't the nicest at the moment. But on the bright side--he'd caught her interest with his offer. He grinned behind his mask, his red visor glowing a hue brighter. he only needed to hear this before he engaged his transformation sequence. This time he was lucky enough for his parts to fit together and slide more smoothly, almost naturally into place.
"I go around 160 mph. Traffic seems oddly low today. Have a location in mind?" Sev's voice answered from his sports car mode. A jet black door with silver rimming opened invitingly, And if we're lucky we won't encounter any Autobots. Sev thought. As a rule, Autobots had a tendency to put a dent in his day.
"Alternatively," An idea came into Sev's mind, "You could drive. I've observed humans learning to drive around town at your stage in life." Sev offered, as the front seat door opened as her second option. What was the worst that could happen? He would always be there to slam on the breaks. What more constructive way could she spend her afternoon?
Sari was still just a kid at heart. She loved the thrill of doing extreme things, and it wasn't very often that these sorts of opportunities presented themselves to her. She was still wary as this was a Decepticon, but he hadn't harmed her in the least. Maybe there were good Decepticons out there, or maybe this guy was just wearing the badge and wasn't with the main group of Decepticons? There was still so much she didn't know, but switching sides was a thing they could do, right?
"I don't have anywhere in mind, but... oh! I know! There's a racing track not too far from here. I don't know if there's people there right now, but we could check~!"
Her look of excitement quickly disappeared as Sev attempted to get the teenager to drive. "Uhh..." Oh dear this was going to be awkward. "I can't? Not legally anyway. You have to have a license to drive, and I don't have one. If we get caught by the police my dad is going to freak! I'd rather not have to explain that to him. I haven't even told him about you guys."
