Player Alias: Trademarkian
Character Name: Shockwave [TFP]
Allegiance: Decepticon
Appearance Description: Shockwave is a purple, black, and grey Cybertronian. Instead of a normal face he has a single red optic. One would be accurate in saying his appearance is intimidating. His left harm lacks a hand; in its place is a cannon, with an ammunition belt stretching from his arm to his back. Shockwave transforms into a tank. All in all a very striking appearance.
Personality: Shockwave is a mech of logic, not ethics. He is not burdened my morals or qualms. A common belief is that Shockwave possesses no emotions. That is an incomplete answer. Shockwave is ambitious, tenacious, patient to an extent, inquisitive, and experiences sensations such as excitement, anger, and loyalty. Most notably, what brings Shockwave’s lack of feelings into polarity is his unparalleled intelligence. Pairing this with his ability to perform trial after trial of an experiment, relentlessly pursuing discovery, unhindered by frustration or the emotional whims of us lesser beings, leaves you with quite a threat. Shockwave’s lack of face adds to his unreadable and unexpressive demeanor.
There are a few instances where Shockwave lets his emotions overrun his usually calm façade. He takes it out on Starscream (until he was able to provide Shockwave with a logical explanation for him being abandoned). Shockwave, like any good scientist, relishes in being successful. When initial plans to fight the Autobots fail, Shockwave is eager to let his Predacons out into the field, to impress Megatron. He also shows reluctance in Megatron’s orders to destroy the clone protoforms. Could this be a sign that Shockwave is capable of emotional attachment?
Strengths + Weaknesses: A run-in with a focused Shockwave is often a death sentence. He is fast, assessing, is able to pinpoint his opponent’s weak spots with his cold, calculating processor and years of battle experience. Shockwave is no frail scholar – he is very dangerous. A killer’s mind and a killer body. As far as weaknesses go, these are up for debate. In Transformers Prime, Shockwave was left alone on Cybertron for years. The last mech to see him, Starscream, was less than distraught at Shockwave’s supposed demise. It is evident that Shockwave’s lack of face, emotional behavior, and tact leave his social skills something to be desired. Arguably, Shockwave has a hard time understanding the emotions and behavior of his fellow Decepticons, as well as his enemies. That does not mean he cannot manipulate or predict them. As a single optic-ed mech, one might say he lacks depth perception in social situations. Another weakness of Shockwave’s is his dedication to science. This may sound contradictory, but in the past he has prioritized it over his own safety and the safety of his colleagues. While stranded on Cybertron, Shockwave spent more time researching the Predacon DNA than he did on finding a way out of his exile. (This is my personal thoughts on this). In addition, Shockwave said nothing while Megatron left Starscream in charge of the Predacon despite the latter’s clear incompetence at handling said task. Some physical weaknesses are he only has one hand, which for a scientist, must make typing and writing equations difficult, and only one eye, which was damaged when the spacebridge exploded. Shockwave, while blinded, had to perform surgery on himself to fix his eye.
Abilities: Like listed above, Shockwave possesses astronomically high intellect and a powerful body. Additionally, his genius mind has led to incredible discoveries and advancements in science and technology.
Weaponry: Shockwave’s cannon arm and tank alt mode are his physical weapons. His other, most sharpened weapon, is his mind.
History: Before the show’s events, Shockwave had been abandoned on Cybertron by Starscream after an attack by Arcee made the spacebridge explode. He was injured in the blast. After repairing himself, Shockwave worked on his research and experiments. Shockwave enters the show in the third season after being found by a scavenger crew. He leaves Cybertron and joins the other Decepticons on earth. Shockwave assists Megatron in his attempts to defeat the Autobots in various ways, namely with the re-creation of the Predacons. Next, Shockwave and Ratchet work to produce a complete, improved version of the synthetic energon, in hopes of reviving Cybertron.
After the large battle at the end of the series, Shockwave and Starscream depart via escape pod. On Cybertron, Shockwave continues his experiments and creates two new Predacons. When Unicron (using Megatron’s body) appears to Shockwave and Starscream, Shockwave is forced to flee. He convinces the Predacons to help defeat Unicron. However after this he disappears. (This is where my character steps in) Shockwave has been visiting various labs on Cybertron, like the one he was at when found during season 3. He does not have access to groundbridge or spacebridge technology, but with the Autobots busy with reconstruction, he has been able to slip around the edges unnoticed.
Roleplay/Writing Sample: I’ve never written rp before so I’m not sure what to put here.
