Player Alias: Counterklock
Character Name: Toolbox (RiD)
Allegiance: Autobot
Appearance Description:
Roughly the size of a small human child, Toolbox is identical in appearance to his fellow prison guard, Fixit, probably right down to the nanometre. His main chassis is orange, while his underlying protoform, visible limb struts, and accents are grey-silver. Instead of legs, he possesses two wheels mounted low to the ground. His optics, like most Autobots, are baby blue. Around his neck is an inhibitor collar which prevents him from transforming or accessing his in-built weapons systems, which is proving to be… difficult to remove.
Personality:
What once was a generic and cheery minicon programmed to serve, guard, and aid his betters, Toolbox is now skittish and broken from his time in captivity as a Decepticon slave. Any psychologist would be able to diagnose post-traumatic stress disorder in an instant. He spooks easily at loud noises, and becomes jittery whenever a larger bot (read: not a minicon) looms over him. It is incredibly lucky that the inhibitor collar prevents him from accessing his weapons, for he just might be liable to discharge a blaster in blind fear.
Nevertheless, he is still eager to help the Autobots in any way he can - possibly even compromising his own mental health in the process, if he is not careful. He obviously has some innate courage deep within his spark, for it took great courage indeed to find a way to escape his prisoners-turned-captors. He may not know it, but he possesses a great deal of determination and resiliency for being able to evade recapture as long as he did and even find the Autobot’s scrapyard base.
Weaponry:
Toolbox’s assemblage of weapons, while limited, is still powerful. When in ‘guard mode’, he possesses the in-built ability to fire missiles and cannons, and much of his ‘technology’ revolves around the incapacitation and re-capture of Decepticon prisoners. Unfortunately, due to the inhibitor collar, he cannot access these at all and is completely helpless at the moment, and thus must rely on his wits and vast intelligence alone.
Strengths + Flaws:
Toolbox, by virtue of being a minicon, is incredibly small. This can be a boon, for he can fit into spaces a conventionally-sized Cybertronian would not. Inversely, it is also a danger: all smaller bots run the risk of accidentally getting underfoot, and doubly so for someone of Toolbox’s stature. In ‘guard mode’, he would prove to be a much greater threat (as all minicon guards of the Alchemor have built in ‘guard’ autonomic protocols that enable them to subdue prisoners) but he does not have the ability to switch into said mode and thus is not exactly an intimidating figure.
Additionally, his own trauma poses a weakness - he can be easily spooked and thrown off guard, both accidentally and on purpose. It would be easy for a Decepticon to overpower him simply by triggering his fear and letting him go into a panicked spiral.
History:
Toolbox’s background prior to the crash of the Alchemor is a standard one for a prison-ship minicon. He, like his brethren, were mass-produced on Cybertron before the War to be stationed upon the newest and shiniest prison-ship that would house the world’s worst and most dangerous criminals. Being a mere guard, he was put into stasis, ready to come online the moment a prisoner might escape from their stasis pods to subdue them.
The real trouble began when the Alchemor crashed upon Earth. Toolbox presumably came online to the sound of klaxons and the polite alert on his HUD that the prisoners had escaped, but before he could do much about it, the very prisoners he’d been meant to guard had turned the tables upon all of them. Fitted with inhibitor collars and enslaved, Toolbox, like all other minicons who survived the crash, was forced to help repair the broken Alchemor for his new Decepticon masters. It is during this time that he was abused, beaten and threatened with bodily harm if he did not obey.
Being a slave meant being ignored, for the most part, and that meant it was easy enough for Toolbox to listen in to the rumors about an Autobot outpost nearby. Hope kindled in his spark, the very last he possessed within himself after having most of the spirit beaten out of him. Finally, after many days of planning (and many days of working up the nerve) he made a run for it. He can only hope that he finds these Autobots before the Decepticons notice he’s gone, and come to find him.
