Player Alias: Trooper
Character Name: Astrotrain
Allegiance: Decepticon
Appearance Description:
Robot Mode:
Alt Mode 1:
Alt Mode 2:
Astrotrain is quite a bulky bot, standing above most of his peers at about 30ft tall.
Personality: First and foremost, Astrotrain is a loyal Decepticon. His trust in the cause unshakeable to the point of stubbornness, he will do anything, and bear any burden, for the betterment of the Decepticons. He takes particular delight in sowing confusion and mayhem among the ranks of the enemy with his powerful weapons and Triple Changing abilities.
Astrotrain is a bot with big dreams, hoping to one day rise from the monotony of being the designated Decepti-bus and be put in charge of some big mission or command. For now, he's content to be a transport bot. This attitude serves him well, but it also hides a crippling inferiority complex. Primarily, he is a transport for troops and equipment, and a big part of him believes that’s all he’ll ever be. Not that he’d ever admit it to anyone, of course. It might get in the way of his work.
Strengths + Weaknesses:
+ Astrotrain is incredibly strong and durable, allowing him to go toe-to-toe with some of the tougher Autobots.
+ A master of heavy weapons & demolitions, Astrotrain's main combat talent lies in causing confusion with big guns and explosions.
+ Triple. Changer. Being one of the few Decepticons with this gift has its uses, such as being able to engage the Autobots on the ground and rain terror from the skies.
- Though his strength is mighty, Astrotrain's below-average intellect means he doesn't always think things through, leading to slip-ups.
- Stubbornness is another issue for Astrotrain. He has a tendency to devise a plan and stick to it, no matter how ill-thought out that plan might be.
- Inferiority complex. This often causes Astrotrain to second-guess his actions and make more mistakes.
Abilities:
Triple Changer: For all his griping about being overlooked, Astrotrain can transform into two alt-modes, making him fairly unique as Transformers go.
Weaponry:
Ionic Displacement Rifle, wrist-mounted pulse cannons
History:
Even before he became a Decepticon, Astrotrain was used to being overlooked. He was part of the low industrial caste, and worked transporting construction materials from the factory to construction sites. His alt modes, coupled with his gift of Triple Changing uniquely suited him for such a task. Still, it was a dull existence, one which Astrotrain could find no meaning in. He longed for something worthwhile, a cause to fight for. At the time, he had naïve aspirations of joining the military caste.
Then he went to see a gladiator match in Kaon, and everything changed. The moment he saw the gladiator called Megatron call for an end to the caste system while dismembering a hapless challenger was a defining moment for him. He later declared his support for Megatron, thus becoming one of the early Decepticons. He openly sided with the ‘cons when the war broke out, encouraging others of his cast to do the same.
Much to his surprise, and perhaps dismay, most of the work he did for the Decepticons was the same as when he worked on construction, only now he was also transporting his fellow soldiers on missions, and fighting Autobots. He revelled in the fighting and the sense of belonging that he never got from his caste. He also had the opportunity to learn things that he never would have been taught in his caste, such as how to blow things up effectively and use big guns.
The war raged on, and Astrotrain was soon called to Earth to continue the fighting. Out of loyalty for the cause, he came and rallied behind his fellow Decepticons.
Roleplay/Writing Sample:
The walls of Fort Scyk used to make Astrotrain feel secure, but that had changed. Now, they only mocked him, telling him that he would never be a part of the High Council’s militia. Astrotrain grimaced as he approached the fort with a group of Decepticons. Their aim was simple; disrupt the ongoing Council meeting, and retrieve Megatron. However, Fort Scyk being a fort, it was considered impenetrable by most Cybertronians.
Astrotrain wondered if those Cybertronians had any experience with EMP bombs.
This bomb had been specially designed to blow through the fort. It carried enough power to level a small settlement. Destroying part of a fort should be a breeze.
Astrotrain had been shipping the parts of the bomb to and from Kaon, while the Decepticons constructed it on-site. Transporting the whole thing would have been suspicious, and they didn’t want to attract any unwanted attention until their job was done. This was the final part of the bomb, and time was almost up.
As he pulled up to Fort Scyk for about the eight time today, Astrotrain wondered if he was being tricked, and this was all to make him haul more parts around. It was a brief worry, and it vanished when the Decepticons unloaded the final part. Relieved, Astrotrain transformed and readied his rifle. Time to get their leader out.
