Player Alias: @leighlei
Character Name: Jazz [G1]
Allegiance: Autobot
Appearance Description:
Jazz Image
Jazz’s root mode is dual color of black and white with a small splash of grey and stripe coloration. White makes up his alt mode’s exposed vehicle portions, such as the hood, back and wheel wells ( all pieces displaying the stripe, while the hood shows his autobrand and number from his vehicle mode ), as well as his forearms and upper legs. His helm, upper arms, neck, hips and lower legs are black, with grey pedes, midriff and panels on his shins. His hips have ‘L’ like shaped blue panels at the front to either side of the crotch piece. Unlike most, Jazz has no optics in which to speak of, but rather he has a blue visor that stretches from temple to temple that varies in intensities, giving the closest hint to what emotions he’s feeling outside of body language. On either side of his helm are two protruding audial sensors that give him an almost feline appearance with their cat-like elongation.
Now lets talk about the 4 wheeling speed machine! Jazz’s alt mode is a turbo ( 1976 ) Porsche 935/76 Le Mans Martini and Rossi turbo pictured here. The white number 4 on his hood symbolizes his scanned alt mode’s production number in the Martini series it’s from. Below that is his Autobrand, proudly front and center for all to see. Running down the middle of the vehicle from bumper to bumper is a 12 inch thick dark blue racing stripe with a single red one down its center and two lighter blue ones to either side of that. This same stripe is runs around the top of his two rear wheel wells and the bottom half of the doors.
Personality:
With an easy-going and overall friendly disposition, Jazz is one of the easiest mechs to get along with- even across the faction line- and is always described as being laid back and extremely optimistic no matter the situation at hand. Jazz can’t help but to have a positive outlook even when the odds are against him- after all, if he won’t, who will? He is also a music connoisseur and, when he’s happy, takes whatever opportunity to sing and dance while playing through various songs in his collection.
Strengths + Weaknesses:
Most would only be able to describe Jazz by his personality, music, and fun loving self, but there are more things to him that make him both valuable to the Autobots, and dangerous to the Decepticons. If his only way of facing down the Decepticons was to blare music at them, then his spark would have been extinguished a long time ago. Thankfully, Jazz as a much more varying arsenal at his disposal.
As with most, being lightweight means that you’re not built to take direct hits. A point blank shot to the chest would snuff him out easily and any lucky blow to one of his exposed joints would take him down. It’s a matter of catching him and keeping him in the crosshairs that makes it difficult to deliver this sort of blow but there’s always that first time that he doesn’t pay as close attention as he should. He’s not going to win any hand-to-hand combat, that’s for sure.
Being silent and undetected by audials does not mean that he is safe from scans. If one were to use their radars for his life signature instead of listening then he’d stick out like a sore thumb! Can’t stop your spark from pulsing unless you’re… well… offlined.
Abilities:
- As an expert saboteur specializing in infiltration, Jazz is usually sent on the most dangerous of missions that involves anything to do with getting in and out as quickly and silently as possible. Don’t put it past him to leave with a BANG either.
- Being Proficient in hacking means that there’s very little that he can’t get past. Some codes may take him more time to hack than others, but eventually they’ll crack and he’ll be able to get to what he needs.
- Who’s that new Decepticion, you may ask? Why, it’s Jazz! But it would take an expert to be able to tell. He has an inept ability to make himself seem like he belongs almost everywhere. Be it in a local speakeasy on Garrus 9, an Enforcer in Iacon, or a Decepticon strolling through Kaon. Anywhere Jazz needs to be? He’s most likely been… and usually before he’s figured out. Keep your enemies close, right?
- Parkour is… well… Jazz shouldn’t do it- or at least, he shouldn’t be ABLE to do it, but he does. Exposed joints and his lightweight frame allows him to make it look easy. He can balance on a beam then flip in backwards through an open window to a roof so fluidly that it’s creepy. Makes holding onto him sort of difficult, but who doesn’t like a challenge?
Weaponry:
- Dual 5000 RMS Sub-woofers- Perfect for rocking out to or blasting out the audials of a Decepticon and causing a mean case of the sensor-scrambles. Whichever is more useful at the time being.
- Multi-colored High Intensity LED Strobe Headlights- This is a disco party at its finest but looking into these headlights isn’t recommended. These things can cause optics to reboot, blinding the opposition and allowing for either a kamikaze style attack, or a tactical retreat.
- Photon burst rifle- good for medium to short-distance shots. Accuracy is greatly decreased the further the opponent is.
- Grappler arm and metal cables- Great for pulling things towards him or hoisting his frame to a new elevation, but once it’s fired it can’t be stopped. Should something unexpected get in the way? Well… oops?
History:
Jazz was sparked just before the Age of Wrath came to a close- when newly forged Cybertronians had neither personality or designations. Hailing from the slums of Polyhex, Jazz was merely given DU-S14 as his title in name. DU, for Delivery Unit and S14 from the he was assigned. He worked hard with the mindless task of delivering supplies back and forth from location to location, never assuming at first that there was more to what he had been created to do. Eventually he found himself to have a feeling called ‘enjoyment’ out of the sounds made from crudely made instruments as well as the natural ones around him made by his home world. When he saw that same spark of curiosity and appeal in the optics of those who he played for, PU-S14 made it his goal to perfect this craft and bring it to all those of his kind that he could.
With the end of Wrath and the beginning of the Golden Age, Jazz’s talents had become both a blessing and a curse. He had been discovered by a Towerling who had, in a sense ‘adopted’ him into a new life. He was not only given a new designation and identity but a life in the Towers of Iacon. This was the new world of ‘Meister’- the musical prodigy with the hypnotic dance moves who would entertain for those who could afford the cost to see him in concert or private shows. While cozy at first, Jazz soon realized that this was not for his benefit. He had been thrown into this as a servant of sorts, forced to play a role that he had to balance carefully and figure out what was acceptable and what wasn’tin the view of his this society as well as his ‘owner’. This was perfected over time by observations and practice. In the meanwhile, Jazz was subjected to whatever the paying clientele wanted of him.
Patience and the expert play of the waiting game eventually paid off. While his owner was busying himself with black market dealings and illegal activity, he paid no mind to Jazz being around and used him as a sort of trinket to display- and that was his downfall. Th Towerling was one of the largest handlers of illegal goods and Jazz ( who had been recording everything he observed ) turned it over to the council with a trade attached. With the Towerling and his associates in custody, Jazz was able to take on a new identity and new life of his own. Meister was now no more- disappeared from society- and Jazz was born with a new look and new history to be made.
Now he worked as a Cultural Investigator within the Data Collection section of the cast system, where he met and worked alongside Orion Pax. He was able to befriend the rather quiet and reserved mech and kept an eye on him when he could- especially when he started to become close to a particular Gladiator who had taken the designation of Megatronus. Jazz had warned there would be trouble…
Good thing for Orion, Jazz wasn't so tacky as to hit him with a case of ‘told ya so’.
Jazz stood alongside Orion as he took on the role of Autobot leader, Optimus Prime, acting as his third-in-command and head of Special Ops. He served loyally at his side for the duration of Cybertron’s life and when the planet finally went dark? He was among the crew who accompanied Optimus on the Ark during the Exodus.
After a battle with the Decepticon warship- The Nemesis, the Ark crash landed on Earth after becoming trapped in its gravitational pull. Now four million years later…
Well, Jazz is on Earth but.. Something definitely seems a bit wrong with this picture. He can’t put his digit on it but it doesn’t feel quite right. Perhaps it’s a fault in his processor? A skip? Who really knows. For all he knows he’s where he’s supposed to be, but the observational side of him says to keep a special optic out for anything out of the ordinary...

He is also a music connoisseur and, when he’s happy, takes whatever opportunity to sing and dance while playing through various songs in his collection.
The Charmer
There is no denying that Jazz is one of the most charismatic mechs on Prime’s team. He’s rarely of few words and always has a sharp quip to respond with on the fly or a joke to offer whoever is listening. His humor is not reserved for his fellow bots, but offers it to Decepticons as well even though they’re usually more sarcastic in tone and nature. He strives to lighten or ease the mood in the darkest of situations be it through light-sparked humor or comforting words. At least when the war is over Jazz won’t have reservations about sitting down with the opposite side for a drink or two, right? No Bot Left Behind
Out on the battlefield Jazz has an unrivaled dedication to his team. He’s not one that necessarily likes to surrender himself but when it comes to the safety to his teammates? That’s a different story. To him, retreating with as few casualties is just as great a victory as claiming the battle in their favor. That’s not to say he follows that same rule for himself. He will put his own self at risk to get a fellow Bot out, no matter how heavily stacked the odds are against him.Medbay? No Way!
Medics are creepy and Jazz has no problem with making this fact known to them. He has an issue with doctors and anything that is related to the sharp needle thing. Why that makes him uneasy is strange, even to him, but the medic thing is not- resulting from experiences he had with them from his youth. Medics equal bad news, and bad news can only be delivered if you see them so avoidance of the medbay is the best option! If he’s missing a limb? Flesh wound, easily cared for with a field patch that he can do himself. Right? Right.Boredom Can Be A Dangerous Thing
Being always on the move means that Jazz can’t sit still for too long. He has to be doing something that will keep him busy or else he will become bored and as they say- idle hands are the devil’s playground. He’s been known to sneak around and be mischievous and even though his actions are harmless, they can still be an annoyance to those who don’t have a sense of humor.
The Agile Speed Boy
There are some definite benefits to having a frame that is suited for the race car he has as an alt mode, and it’s not just the good looks. Being low to the ground means that Jazz has a lower center point of gravity that is evenly spaced between all four of his wheels. This means he’s able to take turns quickly without the need to slow down due to risk of flipping over. His smooth handling and maneuverability makes him able to weave in and out obstacles with ease and can drift like a pro. Being able to go from 0 to 100 in 3.3 seconds ain’t too shabby either! He may not be the fastest around, but having that swift capability? Well, that more than makes up for it.As with most, being lightweight means that you’re not built to take direct hits.
Someone Order A Spook?
One wouldn’t assume that Jazz’s bulky looking frame would allow for him to be silent when moving, but he’s a strange exception to the rule of ‘the bigger they are, the louder they are’. Jazz has a lightweight inner armor that is padded by sound-reducing porous material that allows him a decent amount of protection on the battlefield, but also means that not only does it allow him to be quick, but almost entirely silent as well ( when needed ). Some have compared this undetected quality to rival even that of Ravage. One moment you can think that you’re alone, and the next Jazz is there standing alongside of you. It definitely wouldn’t hurt to keep at least one optic on him at all times, especially if you’re in charge of the next protocol meeting…Being silent and undetected by audials does not mean that he is safe from scans. If one were to use their radars for his life signature instead of listening then he’d stick out like a sore thumb! Can’t stop your spark from pulsing unless you’re… well… offlined.
Data Collection and Adaptability
They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks… well, Jazz can be taught new tricks, but he doesn’t easily let go of the old. It’s hard for him to shake his old profession from his processor and, as such, he is always intrigued by what’s around him. This leads him to collect whatever data he needs from the world and makes him the go-to for cultural inquiries. This also gives him the upper hand in adapting. He also has a wide collection of music in his collection that he just can’t help himself but to enjoy, as well as a varying knowledge of different languages. The Blind And Deaf
Jazz’s visor allows him a field of vision that simple optics do not. He is able to zoom in and focus on things from afar, get a reading of life signatures, and proximate distance between objects. While this gives him a wide spectrum without having to physically see, it’s also a severe hindrance. If one were to disable his visor he would be unable to see anything and he would be left almost helpless. It’s a good thing that he has sensitive audials as backup, but should he be using his sub-woofers at the moment? He would be entire deaf as well due to his systems automatically shutting off his audials to prevent scrambling his own sensors when they are in use.Too Close For Comfort!
Having a smaller frame that works off speed means that it can overtax the systems and overheat quickly. To eliminate this problem, Jazz has several vents located on his helm and at the front and side of his upper chassis that allows for this hot air to circulate out and cool his core. If these were to be blocked off Jazz would be unable to expel it and would, essentially, overheat and stall out. This is a cover for his fear of being in close physical confinement, or the bottom of a dog pile. Abilities:
- As an expert saboteur specializing in infiltration, Jazz is usually sent on the most dangerous of missions that involves anything to do with getting in and out as quickly and silently as possible. Don’t put it past him to leave with a BANG either.
