Characters: @silentsky , open to whichever Decepticons or Autobots happen across her Location: Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona Content Warnings: N/A Plot Summary: Silent Sky makes her debut seeking out the Decepticon signals she detected from space, now she just has to find them...
An alien craft could be seen coming soundlessly from Earth's biosphere and making it's way straight to the ground below. Nose aimed downward at a sharp incline it made it's way in a steep nose dive towards one of the barren parts of the planet, seemingly a large contrast to the seemingly lush, lively areas seen from outside Earth.
The alien jet had a purpose for being there, bearing the tall tale sign of why on their larger wings which bore a symbol only the Cybertronian race would be familiar with. It was a femme Seeker having come to this organic planet in search of the signals she had faintly detected when traveling in this part of the galaxy. it was quite a few and it had been some time since she had last seen such a gathering of Decepticons. It was too much to ignore, especially when this could mean an army of her faction was amassing on this very planet, planning Primus only knew what.
Her afterburners kicked into high gear as she got closer and closer to the bands of red rock, beginning to take shape as she got closer until she leveled off some three thousand feet above and slowed her speed to begin searching for a suitable spot to land. Her movements even in jet form were soundless and if there were others there they likely wouldn't have noticed her unless they had been looking in the sky, in which case her color wouldn't be hard to miss against a cloudless, blue sky. She was darkly colored and hadn't bothered with her cloaking technology. After all, she was trying to be found by her fellow Decepticons not hiding from optic sight.
After roughly ten minutes, Silent Sky spotted the top of a plateau in which she could land and banked towards the right to turn and inclining towards it, transforming mid-flight to land. Her feet touched the red rock, causing the ground to shake as she partly crouched to soften the landing and kicking up bits of dust and pebbles from the force. Standing upright again, she took a moment to take in her surroundings, finding this rocky, barren land a little bit of a sight to behold with its different colored bands of red rock and rocky formations carved out by years of erosion, rain, and wind.
But, the sight seeing was short. She had more important things to worry about and that was mainly figuring out where exactly those signals had been. By the time she had reached the planet they had gone out of her range and at the moment she was having no such luck in finding the Decepticons. Surely there had to be someone right? There usually was, if even a stray wanderer lurking about.
'Only one way to find out.' She thought, tilting her head to look to the sky as she let her signal become a tad stronger, hoping the sensors of wherever the Decepticons were located would pick up on it.
A lone vehicon on a day’s patrol drove on, his engine humming softly as his wheels spun on, cruising at one hundred miles per hour. No one else was on these dry, lonely roads, and the vehicon had taken it upon himself to grace the pavement with his speedy tires. Sev mentally groaned. He was tired, he’d been having long dreary days.
Missions and events had happened, but he felt he could use some rest. These paste foew months with the Decepticons had caused stress on his processor. He’d been given lots to contemplate, whether his way of thinking was being challenged, or if his way of life was really for the best. I was forged for the greater good. Sev reassured himself for the millionth time that week. His luck won out, as a new Decepticon signature shown on his scanners. It was very near. The voice of a brother replayed in his mind, ‘Forget that philosophy crap, let’s get in on that action!’ The other vehicon Sev knew of had an addiction of cutting to the chase. Literally.
His engines roared, as his speed increased by an extra twenty miles per hour, a trail of dust billowing behind him as he approached the signal of the new comer. After conquering 30 miles, a thin figure was visible. The vehicon speedster took the minutes he had to muse on what kind of personality he was going to meet this time. As her thin, small frame became more and more visible, Sev tossed ideas about some large, strong tough-faced brute out of his processor.
He continued to approach. She wasn’t looking like a two-wheeler, or any kind of land vehicle. Those thin, elegant wings told him so.
At last, the remaining meters between them were rapidly devoured, Sev decreased his speed, ready to push in his clutch. The silver and soot black car slowed from a dusty blur to a gracefully halting vehicle, stopping about six meters from the femme. Immediately, upon stopping, the vehicon proceeded to transform. His parts jolted and banged, screeching, forcing themselves apart and back together again. His vehicon parts roughly shifted, forcing themselves to fold and re-adjust, his head-lights flickered as his form shoved itself into it’s prpoper appearance. The after product was not a clumsy tyrpical looking vehicon soldier, but rather a twenty five foot commando.
Although his T-cog was clearly a sad excuse for it’s job, the actual vehicon was something contrastingly sleeker, graceful, and intimidating. Unlike his regular brethren, his neck lacked a hunch, his arms were not wiry, but as lean as they were wholesome. His car doors had been shifted and modified into his back panels, their newly formed crevices leaking a wearily quiet hiss of an ex-vent. He stood straight, and had the build of a mech ready to make a quick move at a moments notice. His dark colorations and dim silver hinted at his balck ops purposes.
His mask was more rounded, smoothed and less angular than that of his brethren, but his crimson visor carried the emotionlessness of his kind all the same. The specialized vehicon gave genuine a salute, as protocol demanded.
“Greetings ma’am.” Her deceptiocn insignia and signature had been noticed, needless to say. Beholding her own features from behind his visor. She was a rich deep purple, accompanied by whispers of grim black. Silvers mediated between her darker colorations, her sleek appendages were something commendably made. She had her own face-cover. It was clear she was made of quality alloys, like a handful of Decepticons who roamed the Nemesis.
“Welcome to Earth.” He said in a respectful quietness.
It wasn't long before her long-range scanner alerted her of someone approaching, causing Silent Sky to bring her gaze back to the surrounding area once more. Checking what her scanner was picking up, she found it was indeed a Decepticon signal like she had picked up back in orbit, making her both excited and curious to who might be approaching. Chances were no one she had ever met, especially when she hadn't spent much time getting to know other Decepticons when she had always found herself otherwise occupied in the war.
From where she stood, the purple seeker watched as dust was kicked up by the approaching vehicle, her wings going up in curiosity with realizing this was the Decepticon she had been tracking for a little while now. From her experience few Decepticons went for an automobile as their chosen form, but if they did she never found any reason to degrade them since she had been use to working with ground-based Cybertronians, all of which her previous police unit had been made up of except herself. Perhaps that made her a bit of an oddball among Seekers and other aerial frames who seemed to have no qualms in insulting and degrading those who chose the ground over flight, some even aimed towards her for being comfortable around them compared to most. But she had always shrugged this off, feeling out of place among Vosians and other flight groups to begin with.
Finally, the unidentified Decepticon arrived, stopping a little ways away from her, Silent Sky tilting her head curiously as the Vehicon began transforming. The transformation sequence sound harsh, forceful, as if something was wrong with their transformation cog. Visibly the sound made the Seeker femme cringe, wondering if the change was painful as it sounded. How could anyone let their t-cog be that bad to begin with? Much less, who would keep it like that? Or was it something wrong that made it sound that bad? Whatever it was, Silent Sky didn't really contemplate it at the moment so much as the bot the vehicle became.
If Silent Sky was any closer to this unique looking Vehicon she would have to tilt her head back just to see him optic-to-optic. He was quite tall and intimidating in appearance, but he was far more sleeker and more graceful, leaner and lacking the hunch typical of most Vehicons. He looked more prepared for combat than half the Vehicon troops she had seen, causing a mix of surprise, intimidation, and awe to stir in the femme since few Vehicons looked so unique. And judging from his coloration he was meant for more covert, black ops missions than anything. There was no denying Silent Sky was impressed but her expression was well hidden behind her face guard and visor, the only indication of that curiosity hinted in the continuous, contemplating movements of her elegant wings.
"Uh, thank you solider." Now came the part that always made Silent Sky feel awkward. It was strange for bots to salute towards her, especially those who would be considered of considerably lower rank than herself. But she gave a quick nod of acknowledgement towards the salute and respectful tone they showed, "Silent Sky, just call me Silent Sky." Silent Sky told him, her voice an audible whisper with a hypnotic edge to it. Calling her "ma'am" once again felt strange to hear, which Silent Sky normally didn't mind those such as the Vehicons addressing her as such. It just made it more personable and less awkward in her opinion.
Straightening herself a bit more with her wings standing at attention to their full height she felt it was probably time to get some other answers. "What is your designation soldier? And what exactly is this "Earth"?" Silent Sky inquired, one of the few times she actually spoke with more than just a simple phrase or single-word response. But at the moment, she could use some more direction about where they were and who she was talking with.
Sev noticed her voice didn’t hold the ego or aggressiveness of half the smaller decepticons he met. The smaller the con, the more they needed to give people a reason to feel intimidated. After all, the Decepticons were an extremely competitive faction to say the least. He could respect this calm and quiet voiced femme.
Sev mentally tally-marked down the third person this month who’d insisted on him calling them by name, and asking for his name. He was glad he had a small nickname to give, because of these recent requests. He wouldn’t deny he liked it when he was called by name. It made him feel like…more a person rather than a manufactured drone for a particular purpose. The scrape lines in his armor were now renewed after his transformation. He was designed for stealth purposes, and he could fulfill those standards perfectly, save for his T-cog. Not everyone had a perfect T-cog. He was given a third rate one since his original T-cog had been taken from him. By whom he didn’t know, but what he did know is his maker had given him what she could get her hands on. Truly, he wasn’t proud of his transformation ability either. He was pretty short on stealth there.
On the bright side, maybe some people would see the scratches in his armor as battle marks, if they hadn’t seen him transform before.
“My nickname is Sev. As in sever.” Sev answered her next question patiently, his own voice was calm and reserved. His hand had flicked out a blade from the sleeve of his gauntlet in the second he’d explained his nickname, and then in the same second he receded the knife back into his plating. He lowered his servo from the salute, but still stood upright. Until he received a decent rank, everyone was his superior. Sev gestured to the ground, thumping his foot on it gently.
“Earth is the planet you stand on Silent Sky. I wouldn’t say ‘Earth’ is the most original name to give it, but I believe it suits the planet down to the ground.” Sev said. His voice never changed or hinted that he’d made a small joke. “Being more specific, this is a planet that is mostly water enshrouding land as you may have seen on your way down here. Why the Decepticons have given their attention to this planet is due to the fact that several Autobot bases are here...one we have found, the other remains concealed.” Sev answered. “To my knowledge, the local species that lives here known as ‘humans’ know very little about us. The Autobots have found an alliance with one of their many governments. But I assume only high ranking government officials know, since not every human is talking about large robotic life forms roaming their home.” Sev completed with a shrug.
Giving another quick nod to the “you’re welcome” response, Silent Sky now patiently waited a response in return. Though a part of her wondered if he would have a unique name to go with a unique appearance, recalling most Vehicons lacked a proper designation beyond a number, letters, or a combination thereof, mostly because of their status as nothing more than drones. Though, sometimes there would be those few among the masses that proved to be much more than their function and showed they could in fact stand out.
Such was the case now when the Vehicon before her told his name, watching the brief second of the blade being flicked out then slid back into the gauntlet he wore. “Sev…” She repeated quietly, “Fitting.” Indeed, it sounded quite fitting for someone who was no good with the blade, confirming her previous suspicions that Sev was more combat ready than most of his brethren. Least in her experiences of seeing the Vehicons; most generally were built with the bare minimum in mind and to be cannon fodder. Nothing more, nothing less. But with considering that, Silent Sky had a sneaking suspicion he was also built for more close quarters fighting perhaps, all of which she mentally took note of since it might mean she’d work with Sev in the future.
Glancing down at the ground for a moment as Silent Sky listened to Sev’s explanation, she couldn’t help thinking the name was quite literal. This place was truly one big rock of a planet, covered in a large body of water and organic plant life. “Suppose they wanted to be to the point.” The femme observed, lifting her gaze from the ground back to the silver and black Vehicon. But there was more than just the explanation of the planet’s name. There was the matter of why the Decepticons held interest in it and confirming that her scanners had not been mistaken after all; there were Autobots here and apparently, they intended to stay for some time to have made bases there.
Though what she wasn’t expecting to hear is that organic lifeforms, humans as they were called, were allied with the Autobots. Their enemies of several millennia were already a threat all their own, even when they were in small numbers but to have allies from this planet probably put a damper on the situation. Though judging from the numbers there for their faction Silent Sky could figure the Decepticons were holding up well despite additional help, help that probably only seen in numbers more than a true edge that tipped the scales in favor of the Autobots.
“Suppose that should still work in our favor; an enemy caught unawares usually meets an unfortunate end.” Silent Sky remarked, her voice never wavering in it’s seemingly audible whisper, but there seemed confidence in it that the situation still showed some favor for their side. But it did bring up another curiosity in her processor, “Are there many of us here?” She inquired. ((Tags: @sv19 )
Sev grinned behind his mask at Silent Sky agreeing about his name. It was fitting, short, and easy to remember. Unlike his brother Maleki, who’d gotten a little carried away with his name.
“Making sure they never saw you coming in the first place is the key to that tactic. The Autobot’s leader is here. Unfortunately, his troops are becoming as increasingly aware of us as we are of them Silent Sky. I believe we outnumber them, however, they have maintained their balance thus far.” Sev informed the femme, her name placed in his sentence exactly where a ‘ma’am’ would have been. He paused briskly as he drew in a vent to answer her next inquiry. “As luck would have it, Lord Megatron himself is here as well. We rally behind him upon his War-Ship ship known as the Nemesis. There are many of us. At least an entire battalion.”
Sev continued, his voice never defecting into a tour guide going through the motions. He’d just arrived a few months ago after all. He wasn’t known to be a spokesman, but he wasn’t about to sound bored with a superior.
He too mused on how the Autobots were fairing as well. He could feel it in his endo-structure, a mission or something of the like should occur. Memories of him taking sniping missions or coming from the sidelines to thwart Autobot plots flashed through his processor. Ah, the thought of doing what he was programmed for gave him a slightly warm feeling in his spark. Doing what he was designed for made him feel wholesome, content, and above all, useful.
“When was the last time you were fulfilling your purpose Silent Sky?” Sev asked. It was a fair question for a vehicon, made for a certain role. He believed that everyone had a use of some sort or another. Otherwise, logically, they wouldn’t be equipped by Lord Megatron, or allowed into the ranks. If someone was useless, then they would likely have a difficult time getting into any faction.
“Surprise is one of the best tactics one could hope for.” Silent Sky agreed, unable to help the faint smile forming behind her face guard. She would definitely look forward to working with this Vehicon, especially when he seemed to share a similar mentality to how stealth and going unseen could make for useful tactics. Perhaps not everyone shared that sentiment, but those few who did Silent Sky was more than glad to work with them. Sure she didn’t always make it obvious, but there was always that feeling of camaraderie knowing someone else could plan and think as you did, perhaps even coordinate better than most unfamiliar with it.
Though from there, Silent Sky remained quiet so Sev could continue his explanation, listening intently to every word. Ah, so things were now getting interesting. Now only was the infamous Optimus Prime somewhere on this very planet directing his own troops but there were still a fair number of Autobots to hold off an equally decent number of Decepticons if her scanner readings were anything to go by. Then again, the Autobots always seemed to work best when their groupings were small, close knit, and most often coordinated to balance one another out. Whether it was intentional or the Autobots just had a habit of it was hard to say.
Nevertheless, it was concerning news that things may eventually come to a head and there would be little they could do to stop it. Silent Sky couldn’t recall the last time she had heard of something coming close to a stale mate or one side would have to find that one thing that could truly tip the scales.
Though her wings actually perked up more at the mention of Megatron, genuinely surprised to hear their leader was here as well. Now that was interesting. She had only seen glimpses of the tyrant and heard his rallying calls during the time the Cybertronian war was centered on their planet, but to hear he was here certainly brought some hope, much less there being a whole battalion ready at his disposal. “Such numbers still sound promising Sev, especially with Megatron among them. Even if the Autobots become fully aware of what we plan upon the Nemesis our forces should be enough to keep them on their toes.” Silent Sky tried to be assuring, though there was a part of her that did wonder if it would be enough.
Though his question caused Silent Sky to pause for a moment, having to recall when she really made full use of her skills and function for the benefits of the Decepticon cause. It had been a long while, the femme tapping her chin thoughtfully as she considered the number of years in her processor. “Fully, not since Cybertron. Sparingly at best since then.” She finally answered after some thought. Honestly, it felt like an eternity since she had done any proper fighting or reconnaissance. Now with being on Earth, Silent Sky could feel at the core of her Spark that she could finally be of use for the greater good when it came to the Decepticons, no longer having to fly idly through space in the hopes something interesting would happen. “So where is the Nemesis from here?” (Tags:@sv19 )
Sev found himself enjoying the company he had. It had been a little while since he’d had that feeling. He needed to find Maleki and catch up with that mech. That mech was also supposed to be of black ops purpose, although, Maleki’s story involved in literally breaking the rules…to follow the rules. He was a confusing mech, that Maleki. Sev’s vehicon instincts lead him to return the earnest and respectful listening the femme had given him. Oh, the pleasure he was receiving from speaking this freely. It was a superb feeling.
“Regarding Surprise, I can agree with you completely Silent Sky.” Sev said, again placing the femme’s name where he may have said ‘miss’ or ‘ma’am’. It was simply out of habit. Sev did wonder if she might ever accompany him on a mission one day. Perhaps, if he was lucky. Her words carried on to muse on numbers. Sev simply nodded, deciding not to waste any banter on that matter.
To him, he’d been bred to make the smallest numbers of his kind count, he was one of few warriors designed to be somewhat valuable. To him, numbers weren’t everything. Recent studies of human history had also shown him that an empire dominating the middle east had once tried to take over a small amount of Europe…and the small number of men, who were but a small flock of sheep in comparison to the 180,000 men raining down upon their country had fought with commendable might and wit.
As long as Autobot mentality is demoralized, rather than fueled, then numbers can carry you far. He shrugged. Morale is everything in any combat. He decided to muse on the Autobots to himself. It was more respectful to give her the last words, and because there was no need for additional talk on that subject. Unless she pressed on.
“I am not to say the location of the Nemesis aloud,” Sev, gestured to the land around him. He wasn’t dumb enough to just tell Silent Sky where spying ears could pick up. Even if there weren’t, it was unwise. Technically he didn’t know exactly where the Nemesis was, but he knew it’s flight course, and that was enough for him to keep quiet about it. He’d been sure to not previously say any secrets aloud either. “I can request a ground bridge to the Nemesis if you desire it. However. If you enter the Nemesis, duties may be shoved on you quicker than a velocitronian. Now is the best time for you to exercise your wings Silent Sky.” He pointed to the atmosphere. He knew she’d just flown in. Still. There was a lot of walking in the Nemesis. He knew seekers preferred their skies more than the ground. Maleki had taught him that.
Silent Sky didn't really press the subject of numbers. At the moment, it had just been something she mused about for a little bit since it sounded promising and looked like things could be in their favor. But she couldn't be that hopeful. Numbers really weren't everything and things could go back and forth for some time before anyone could seemingly make any head way over the other. Besides, right now wasn't exactly the greatest of times to dwell on their chances.
No, right now there were far more important matters to be concerned with. And Silent Sky mentally kicked herself for being so direct in her question, knowing the better questions would have possibly been "Where do we go from here?" instead. With being alone all this time and rarely staying for long it felt like habit to simply ask where something or someone was, a habit Silent Sky intended to break so to avoid possibly giving away where the Nemesis or her comrades were. It wouldn't be easy but in time she would figure out what questions would be right to answer or when to ask them, especially for the Decepticons she was probably fixing to be around aside from Megatron himself and Vehicons.
Out of another habit though, she carefully extended her long-range scanner to it's maximum, trying to pick up hints of enemy forces. There was nothing. Least, from what she was actually finding. There would be those bots out there that masked their signatures and even a scanner such as hers would completely miss them before it was too late, giving a nod for his response. "I wouldn't expect you to. I should have asked that very differently Sev, my apologies." She told him, but listened to what he said next. Her wings gave an unconscious flick at such a realization, knowing with a new planet the atmospheres could be very different from Cybertron and would take time to become familiar with. Yet, she felt waiting to make her presence known to the Decepticons might cause some problems as well.
Thinking it over, Silent Sky settled on a decision, "I'll have plenty of other chances in between to get use to this atmosphere, for now it can wait. Might as well request for the ground bridge." She told him in a decisive manner, mentally preparing herself for what was to come.
“No worries. I’m not one for screaming at slight error.” Sev’s mind blinked to Starscream, before Sev nodded at the seekeresses confirmation. Within his crimons visor, in the corner of the screen a small activation code waited to be highlighted. Sev did just that, sending a request to the nemesis for one of their portals, adding a small texted note about a newcomer. Which mean the bridge would come a little faster.
Sure enough, the vortex swelled into it’s sea-green existence, swirling like a miniature tornado void of wind. Sev gestured for Silent sky to enter first, considering she was technically still a higher rank than he was. Mybe she considered herself at his status, but she was %100 sentient, whereas Sev was often considered to be less than that.
“Once you enter, I can offer a tour if you desire.” Sev said passively, knowing that perhaps a full tour wouldn’t be entirely required, since most black ops folk were quite independent. However, locations such as the armory, or training grounds always came in handy. Not only such locations, but also the backdoor to said places, or best advised shadowy pathes. The Nemesis was a large ship, however, Sev had discovered a few more subtle paths to places he might suggest to a femme who felt at home in the quieter regions.
Either way, Sev didn’t mind not patrolling seemingly forever. Although, he was looking forward to spending a portion of his time at Bunker 79 when he had the chance. If he was lucky, he could rendezvous with Maleki there sometime. That was another note though.
Silent Sky nodded, so far not finding Sev to be the type so easily annoyed at minor mistakes. In fact, he seemed rather laid back and quiet, seemingly no where near the usual personality of Decepticons which ranged from a large ego to outright psychotic or sadistic. It was a nice change but quite rare these days. Most Decepticons liked to show off their bravado, boldness, and pride in numerous ways, leaving her baffled sometimes such Cybertronians were even still alive. They seemed reckless, uncoordinated, and oafs that probabakt wouldn't know how to work a simple tool if it was handed to them. But nature found a way perhaps, even with the most challenged bots of their kind.
But her thoughts broke off when the vortex of energy appeared before them, the femme looking on for a moment. Nervousness and apprehension seemed to grip her spark at that moment, feeling like a rookie all over again back during her time with the Cybertronian police. These would be bots well above her ranking and some of the most dangerous and notorious known among the Decepticons. She had never worked directly under them before, only carrying out orders that filtered down the hierarchy and settling with doing her duty and part for the cause. Of course, she would still be doing just that but it wouldn't come through echos of a field commander but from those such as Megatron, Starscream, or Soundwave themselves. It was almost exciting and terrifying all at the same time. What kind of duties would she be given? Would she meet them the moment she went through the space bridge? Was she really ready?
All these questions raced through her mind as she stared at the portal before them, hesitating to move at first. But Sev was the next one to break through her thoughts, "A small tour would be welcoming. Maybe covering the more important parts might be a good start." She answered, the distraction being just what she needed to squash her doubts and uncertainties. She could never be sure what would happen without actually trying. She was no stranger to taking a chance, after all she had come barreling down through Earth's stratosphere without concerning in cloaking herself despite her sounds being dampened. Her coloration was a big eye sore when it was rather light outside after all.
With a deep intake, the femme Seeker stepped forward towards the portal, feeling the slight tug it gave on her form. Giving a final glance to the Vehicon she finally stepped on through the portal, her entire frame rigid and tense as she went. The ground seemed to feel like nothing as she moved through, the feeling of something solid gone for what felt only a mere few seconds before she felt her feet step onto solid ground once more, her thruster heels clicking on a metal surface. There was no doubt she was no on the Nemesis.
