Player Alias: Foximus
Character Name: Tarn
Allegiance: Decepticon
Appearance Description: The most striking of Tarn’s many features is his mask, which covers the entirety of his face and is in the shape of the Decepticon insignia. A rather large mech, Tarn also has tank treads indicative of his alternate mode. Perhaps the second most notable feature, however, is the dual-fusion cannon that he wears on the same arm as Megatron. His color scheme is largely purple with dashes of chrome, black, and gold thrown in. He has red optics.
Personality: Tarn is an eloquent Decepticon. Playing beautiful music while waxing poetic quoting philosophical works such as Towards Peace by Megatron, Tarn’s zealotry knows no limit. He epitomizes the mentality of the Decepticon Justice Division from which none can escape their fate. Despite these extremes, Tarn is quite contrary.
With the potential to be as brutally violent as any other Decepticon, Tarn somewhat surprisingly is a bit of a bureaucrat. Believing that his actions are completely justified, Tarn also falls victim to self-denigration. He works hard, running his ship fair but tight, even going so far as to pick up an open-minded stray. While he seems sophisticated and controlled, he can snap in an instant going to life-threatening at the slightest provocation.
Strengths + Weaknesses: Physically dominating and psychologically imposing, Tarn is a deadly foe in battle. His intelligence and tactical prowess also leave little to be desired. He is, for all intents and purposes, designed to be an executioner.
His contrary nature can also make him a rather unpredictable foe or ally. His devotion to Megatron drives him to any end whether it be horrid or noble. However, Tarn suffers from addiction. In his case, the addiction is transformation, which causes him to burn out his transformation cog. His bouts with addiction and obsession, when he gets in one of his phases,
make it quite difficult to focus on anything else. His energizing with weapons grade nucleon also makes him more erratic and prone to outbursts of violence.
Unlike Megatron, Tarn’s dual-fusion cannon is fueled by his own internal power reserves as opposed to a black hole like Megatron’s is rumored to. As such, Tarn may run low on power in a prolonged struggle. Currently, Tarn is without his team or his usual resources.
Abilities: Tarn possesses a specially modulated vocal processor capable of inducing spark self-destruction. While more than capable at tactics, Tarn also specializes in the art of psychological warfare. He can manipulate the fear in his victims in order to best enhance the impact of their impending demise or for other tactical purposes.
Weaponry: A fusion cannon is a weapon of incredible destructive power. Tarn has two. Or, more specifically, a dual-fusion cannon with twice the destructive capability of one. His very strength is another of his weapons, able to decapitate a mech of smaller size with little effort. These, coupled with his skills with psychological warfare, are a formidable arsenal for one whose very function is to be an executioner.
History: Originally forged in the territory of his namesake, Tarn was originally known as Damus. An outlier known for his ability to disrupt electronics, Damus was nicknamed Glitch, which was doubly fitting for him as his ability hurt himself when he used it. With practice, he honed it into the ability to self-destruct others’ sparks with mere words. Before the war, Glitch became an Empurata victim, likely due to his vocality of his support for the author of Towards Peace.
After joining the Decepticons, Damus was rebuilt as Tarn, giving him the physical capabilities on par with a phase sixer. He served for some time as the commandant of the prison Grindcore, taking up his mask sometime before then. Later, as the war ground on, he became Tarn and leader of the Decepticon Justice Division, a unique group of Decepticons whose sole function is to be judge, jury, and executioner of problematic Decepticons.
Roleplay/Writing Sample:
The Peaceful Tyranny
Tarn had took leave of the ‘festivities’ a bit early. There were times when he could watch. There were times when he even reveled in it. But not this time. Not now. He ascended the boarding ramp of the Peaceful Tyranny alone, leaving the others to their revels. They would be along in time.
As was required and eagerly performed, Tarn genuflected before the statue of Megatron that greeted all who entered. He uttered a few words softly to himself, not unlike a prayer, before drawing himself to his full height and gazing upon the visage of the one Cybertronian who Tarn respected – perhaps respect was not quite the right word, venerated or revered or worshipped would be more apt – most in the universe.
Megatron gazed back – or so Tarn fancied. He knew Megatron valued him, had seen something in him. He was more than willing to prove him right. To that end, Tarn managed to move from under the effigy’s gaze, heading through the gilded halls of the Peaceful Tyranny to his own quarters.
As he moved to open the door to them, he drew back, noting with disinterest that his hand was practically dripping energon. He thought little of it. It wasn’t his after all. The door admitted him with a sliding hiss, whereupon Tarn took liberty to clean the traces of energon from himself with a rag before moving on to what had actually brought him here.
Paperwork.
Sitting down at his desk, he pulled up the appropriate form on his datapad and began to fill it in. All standard procedure. It gave Tarn a bit of peace as well. To run a successful campaign, camp, team, or what have you, good organization and administration was always involved. The others didn’t particularly care for it, Tesarus particularly, but Tarn insisted on it.
Heaving a rather satisfied sigh, Tarn’s thoughts drifted to other pleasant matters. He wondered when Megatron might summon them or contact them directly for an assignment. It had been some time, though they were making fine progress through the List. Speaking of…he wondered who might be next on it.
He’d have to ask Kaon when the others got back.
