Characters: @silentsky, @cyclonus,Open to Decepticons Location: Nemesis Flight Deck Content Warnings: Violence (Most likely) Plot Summary: Silent Sky decides to take up Cyclonus' offer to learn from him and invites the older Decepticon to the ship's Flight Deck. But their session may draw some attention.
"::Cyclonus sir, if you aren't busy meet me on the Flight Deck in a few minutes.::" Silent Sky sent over com-link towards the older Decepticon, already making her way there as she did. It had been a few days time since she had sparred with Cyclonus, the older Decepticon having proven his mettle and living up to his rumored prowess. The fact she had gotten that chance had felt like an honor to the young Seeker and she was more than eager deep down to learn much more and to hopefully improve her skills under his watch.
It almost felt like she was once more gaining a mentor since the loss of her first, the thought causing her to briefly grip her spear staff a bit more tightly before her grip loosened. She had to be focused on the present, not the past. Silent Sky thus took a deep intact of fresh air as she stepped out onto the deck before letting out a slow vent and allowing her form to relax once more. Outside was cloudy and she felt the faint charge of static in the air, indicating a coming storm but for the time being all was peaceful. The ship was hidden among the fluffy light grey rain clouds, no doubt offering cover and a foreseeable unique covering for the coming training session. At least, she was hoping for such a thing.
Perhaps she was asking too early, and maybe for once her eagerness was getting the best of her. But it never hurt to invite the opportunity and she left it open for Cyclonus to decline it. As usual though, her voice was unwavering in it's emotionless state, the femme Seeker strolling to the edge of the flight deck until the tips of her pedes just barely went over the edge.
She was not afraid to go into a free fall or taking a leap first before she took flight. But at the moment, Silent Sky was allowing herself to enjoy the open air rather than the cramped room her and Cyclonus had previously practiced in. Her wings were relaxed, her form leaning slightly on her spear staff as she patiently awaited a response or for Cyclonus to show himself. She for the time being allowed her optics to close, beginning to hum softly in a low, faint sound that was a bit hard to hear but being a few feet away it was clear where the humming came from.
Was the communique that Cyclonus had sent back to Silent Sky.
Prowling the corridors of the ship with a military efficiency, Cyclonus made his way to the flight deck. Having no pressing matters to attend to, he welcomed a brief reprieve from quiet reflection. He wondered at what Silent Sky could want of him. It was not difficult to conjecture but he would see, wouldn’t he?
A gust of wind greeted him as the doors to the flight deck opened, the open sky greeting his optics. Having waged battle both in atmospheric environments and in space, he much preferred space. It offered more of a challenge in way if the other party was accustomed to the environment.
Sometimes, however, they were not. In which case, it was almost pitifully easy to pick them off. Marching out onto the flight deck a bit further, he glanced around, looking for his younger associate. He spotted her fairly quickly. He approached, but paused as he heard something on the wind. Humming.
Curious.
Continuing his approach, Cyclonus called out to her. “You sing?” he asked, stepping up to her side right on the edge. “An interesting hobby for one so young.”
Hearing the response, Silent Sky nodded to herself, part of her surprised Cyclonus had indeed agreed to come meet her. Sure, part of her had been hoping he would take the invitation while the other rationalized it was possible he might be busy with more important matters. She was no one of great significance nor concern, which meant she would be of little priority to begin with. But hearing the older Decepticon acknowledge the request brought a strange relief and excitement to her spark. Perhaps she didn't outwardly show much emotion, but inwardly she was more than full of it, but she tried to keep such things under wraps instead of showing it.
Nevertheless, she said nothing more and just patiently waited, continuing her low humming even when she heard heavy foot falls compared to her own, indicating someone else was there. And the inquiring voice confirmed it belonged to the purple mech well before he was at her side. "Only sometimes, when in a decent mood sir." Silent Sky responded, ending her little humming session but not her moving much. "I figured I could inquire to you of perhaps partaking in another session, a lesson even if you deem it appropriate after our last encounter." She finally explained to the nature of her requesting him here, straightening herself with her wings going up in a respectful manner as she opened her optics behind her visor to peer at the mech.
"It is more open out here, so I figured it would serve as a far better setting if you wanted to do another session. I know you said before you had much to teach and I am curious to know more of what you can offer, Cyclonus sir." Silent Sky spoke with the utmost respect towards the purple mech, waving her hand towards the open sky as emphasis to her point of it being more open before holding out that same hand with her palm facing upward as a gesture that he was welcome to do so or decline it.
After all, he was well above her in rank and she had no place telling him what he could or couldn't do.
“Indeed,” Cyclonus said in response to Silent Sky’s commentary on her humming. “I also dabble in it. I find it to be a wholesome recreation.” As she got to the spark of the matter, Cyclonus considered her request. He had guessed as much. Her eagerness was appreciated and most welcome in a young mechanoid.
“Very well,” he agreed after a few moments consideration.
“This venue is well suited to aerial combat. I suspect you had that in mind when selecting it? You’ve been well, I hope. Tended to your weapon and your injuries?” he inquired. After all, he did not want to risk injuring her grievously. After their last encounter, Cyclonus had thought long and hard about his behavior. He resolved to remedy that particular issue.
"Suppose everyone needs an outlet to maintain mental clarity and stay relaxed." Silent Sky gave a nod at that, the mech never ceasing to make her curious about him but deciding now wasn't the time to request a quick showing of his singing capabilities. That could be saved for another day.
Holding her spear staff in one hand and straightening herself to her full height at his question, she gave a nod of confirmation. "Naturally to both sir." The inquiry did cause Silent Sky's optics to flicker towards the older Decepticon's frame, recalling her own attacks from their previous session. He seemed in good condition, repaired even down to the cosmetic concern with her thrusters at the start of their spar. That meant this would be another battle of both being at the top of their game, with some restraint of course. Perhaps.
"I believe we can agree it is best to have training in both confined and open spaces, least that is what my previous mentor spoke of during training. That one should always have some familiarity to where they are fighting." Silent Sky looked back towards the clouds, which seemed to have gotten darker. "We had confined before, time to see how the openness changes the stakes." She spoke, before kicking on her thrusters and taking flight, but never been too far from the Nemesis. "Shall we?" She offered, hand held out once more in invitation.
In silent acknowledgement to Silent Sky’s answers to his questions, Cyclonus merely nodded. He could see for himself that she appeared to be in good condition and surmise that she would not have solicited him for another bout if she were feeling unwell. Well, he would hope so. For his part, he was fully repaired and functional. He had to be at peak performance when it was possible in the case that Lord Megatron required anything of him.
When Silent Sky spoke of a prior mentor, Cyclonus’s curiosity was piqued a bit. “Your former mentor was wise to think so,” he commented. Credit where it was due.
As she took to the skies up and slightly away from the Nemesis, Cyclonus remained where he was for a moment, considering. He flexed his hand lightly. He was, for all intents and purposes, the instructor. How to begin this lesson then. After a moment longer, he had it.
Leaning forward, Cyclonus allowed himself to plummet off the edge of the Nemesis. He enjoyed the few astroseconds of freefall before transforming into his alternate mode and changing course. Swooping under the Nemesis, he rose from its stern, firing a volley of missiles at Silent Sky.
The lesson had begun.
