Having a chance to arrange a meeting with any superiors was a challenging, often arduous task for someone like Firelaunch. It often took timing, caution, and planning to get a rendezvous point or arrange a chance he could make a regular report one the location in which he went undercover. But most times he tended to have the proper frequency as well, a direct one just in case information was needed quickly or at certain intervals. But, this time had been different.
It had taken a handful of months and lots of patience before Firelaunch could at last make an arrangement to come aboard to famed warship, the Nemesis, reporting to Megatron himself. Mixed excitement and fear had quickly filled the red and black mech's spark at what awaited him, pacing on the grassy hill of the American plains and the nearest place he could think to reach within the general area. When it came close to the time that a space bridge would open for him, the bulky framed double agent finally paused in his pacing, closing his mismatched optics as he focused on his form, which began to shift and rearrange itself. His kibble and features painfully altering and shifting, causing a pained noises to come from the mech.
Before he was completely shifted into his regular state as a Decepticon, the green energy vortex opened before him, indicating it was time. Narrowing his optics behind the visor that covered the entirety of his face, Firelaunch stepped through without hesitation, finding himself feeling solid metal beneath his pedes now rather than soft grass. His components and armor gave some final faint noises as they shifted into place, subconsciously resting a hand over where his T-cog was working overtime as usual when he made such a change, one he had not done for a while now. All the while, his optics scanned his surroundings briefly, quickly noting he was in the main bridge and Vehicons were handling the controls. But they were not what or who he was looking for.
No. Instead, his optics became fixated on the familiar bulky, spiked, silver frame of his Supreme Commander, his door wings giving a faint flick of anticipation and giving a slight bow, "It has been some years since being graced with your presence, Lord Megatron." Firelaunch finally spoke up, tone calm but respectful of the tyrant.
When Megatron had realized that Ratchet had escaped he was furious. His vehicon soldiers and the rest of his army had failed him greatly, even if they had managed to capture another Autobot medic in process. Kaon seemed quite interested in the newly captured Pharma, and he was more than happy to let the Decepticon Justice Division deal with him as he had once been their prisoner before.
However, there was news that distracted Megatron from his violent rage as the Vehicons made their repairs to the Nemesis. The plant who had been spying on the Autobots for them was returning with an update, and that was something the tyrant longed to hear. While there had been Jazz, it was more fun to let the Autobots squirm. Let them wonder just how long it would be before Jazz ratted them out and spilled the beans on their location.
What they never would have seen coming was a second double agent.
Megatron sat at his throne while he awaited the return of Firelaunch, having assembled a good number of his crew so they could hear what was to be revealed to them all.
"Indeed it has been some time, but time well spent.. am I correct? During your time with the Autobots you must have gained a fair amount of intel. Share with us what you know and your reward shall come to you."
[smear:FF0000][/smear:00FF00]Kaon tightened the collar one last time, relishing in the whimpers of the medic. He then turned away coldly, feeling for the chain of the Pet's leash. He gripped tight to the leash, snapping it sharply.
"Pet, lead."
Feeling the familiar tug on the leash was Kaon's cue to walk. He gripped tight to the chain, listening through the halls. Idle chatter from the Vehicons. Some of it was the bog-standard stupid chatter; who was fragging whom, how Knock Out got his latest paint scratch, comings and goings for missions. However, what stuck out to him was the arrival of an apparent double-agent.
Things like that were apparently not an everyday occurrence on the Nemesis. A crimson hand would lash toward the latest Vehicon to mention it.
"Where are they?"
"THE BRIDGE, SIR!"
"Good. Now get back to work or we'll have to make an example of you."
The ghosts of a frosty smile crossed Kaon's face. He then threw the Vehicon aside roughly, tapping the chain with little electric jolts. "The bridge", he had spelled out. The Pet would lead the way, tell-tale clacking of claws being the only hint. Kaon had mastered the art of walking soft and quiet.
There were other members of the crew among the bridge crew. Good. Loyal soldiers who knew how to listen well and join their Lord when told. Once he arrived, he knelt for a faint moment.
"I apologize for my lateness, Lord Megatron. It appears the Pet needs more training on the locations of the Nemesis. He is so used to the Peaceful Tyranny, it seems."
When one of the medical team was called to the Bridge, Breakdown had chosen to go. Knock Out was in the middle of a delicate surgical procedure, and was slated for another to remove the transformation cog of the latest prisoner. After Ratchet's escape, they weren't going to let that little white jet go so easily, apparently. And seeing as he could fly away if he transformed, it appeared that the transformation cog was going to go.
He didn't know the details. Not that he particularly cared. The air of the ship had been different since the edgelords of the Decepticon ranks had joined the Nemesis crew. He rolled his singular optic at the thought. He got it, he got it. They blew up a Hot Topic.
His expression curled into a sneer. Oh look who was late, the red edgelord and his murder-dog. And to the surprise of no one, he blamed the dog. Cue another optic roll; thankfully those were rather silent, Breakdown said to himself.
After all, he was loyal to Megatron, not the Decepticon Justice Division.
To say Forth was surprised to be chosen for this little get together was an understatement. He was no heavy hitter or of great importance since joining the Nemesis crew, and quite honestly he had to adapt and learn the layout of the ship, much less hold his own to some who thought he could be pushed around. His favored dragon form no doubt gave the impression he was but a little beast to be used as a pet or simply a little extra hand due to what he could do. But he had more than given a few Vehicons a nasty reminder that he wasn't a simple minded Mini-con.
Nevertheless, he came to the gathering as he was told, slinking within the shadows behind the larger bots so as to avoid possibly accidently being crushed. But he was drawn in to move closer to see the arriving bot and the sounds of clicking claws certainly made him a bit curious. Was it another Predacon? He was somewhat hoping it was, having not seen another of his kind since the experiments done by Shockwave, least to his knowledge that he recalled.
Sadly, it was not a Predacon, but what appeared to be a turbo fox on a leash to one of the larger bots. He sniffed the air slightly, giving the Pet a weary look as some of his instincts screamed danger and readiness to react. Of course, that was the beast side of him talking and he tried to keep such primal instincts down and tried to focus back on what the larger bots were saying, giving his tail a few flicks in anticipation.
Before Firelaunch could go right into things the clicking of claws caught his attention, turning his head in time to see the arrival of Kaon and the Pet. Curiosity initially peaked, he almost made a mental note to find out who this bot was until he spoke a few choice words that gave that away. 'The Decepticon Justice Division is here? That puts a whole new twist on things.' Firelaunch thought to himself, "Just in time for the party." Firelaunch assured Kaon, more so out of courtesy since he had a feeling Megatron gathered these bots to hear everything. Last thing he wanted was to leave one of these bots out of the loop.
Now, he could return to what he was fixing to say. "Best months I've had in a long time." Firelaunch gave a nod, door wings flattening against his back as he stood a bit straighter. "I'll get straight to the bad news my lord, the one thing I cannot tell you right out is the location of the Autobot base; doing so would raise too many red flags and the Autobots will already be edgy with the...latest developments with their medics." That had to be sound reasoning right? He wanted to cover his bases, get the worst of the news out of the way. And well, that really was the worst of it and his previous fear was ebbing away to a more assured state of mind. Although, there was still going to be that tiny bit of fear as he knew the wrong words could trigger Megatron's wrath. This place already felt like it was buzzing with tension and just the right event needed to help it fall apart at the seems.
"But..." Firelaunch retracted a part of his hip plating to pick up a data stick from within, holding it up for those gathered to see, "I can narrow your search a great deal if your communication officers are up for listening in on some private and encrypted Autobot frequencies. And the one hint I can give you is the base is located somewhere in the western region of the continent they call the United States." Firelaunch knew he was walking on thin ice at the moment, perhaps even playing a dangerous game of chicken as the humans called it. He knew the exact coordinates of the Autobot base, their main base that was and he was more than rearing to give up that location just to see the Autobots crushed under the weight of their mistakes. Unfortunately, he also had to play up the part and avoid losing the advantage of surprise.
One thing that did cross his processor though. Or, it was more of someone crossed it, recalling the recent Decepticon youngling they had given refuge to quite recently and how scared she seemed. A part of him wanted to mention such an unexpected guest, mainly because she was technically a traitor or deserter from the ranks while a part of him felt it would be wrong to speak of it at all. Moonwing was young after all, maybe too young to be dragged into this. Yet, knowing of her and Megatron finding out he had not spoken up might well earn him a fusion cannon blast through the chest, which was just equally terrifying to think of while in Megatron's presence and the silver tyrant picking this exact day to use it.
Unfortunately, fear won over his conscience. Well, what remained of it. "There is one last thing, Lord Megatron." Firelaunch spoke up once more, somewhat hesitant but nevertheless steeling his nerves. "The Autobots recently took in a Decepticon youngling, a silver Seeker femme whose name I haven't gotten the chance to learn. But she seems...skittish, out of place. I don't know if this rings any bells or is a matter of great concern, but I felt it best to bring it to your attention.
Megatron sat idly with a dull expression, his cheek resting upon a closed fist while he waited for everyone to gather. Breakdown had chosen to represent, as well as Forth and Kaon. While he personally knew nothing of Forth, he was intrigued by the presence of a Mini-Con. It had been some time since he had gazed upon a Mini-Con.
He wondered how his secret project of Mini-Con weaponizers were fairing. Of course.. they wouldn't even know themselves. Megatron knew full well that they were in stasis and would be used if and when the time arose.
The tyrant's optics immediately narrowed as Firelaunch reported that he could not give them the direct coordinates of the Autobot base. Even if the Autobots were on edge after Jazz's betrayal five months ago, he did not see why Firelaunch could not give him the information. "While I appreciate you narrowing the search, I believe it wise that you give us the coordinates. With Jazz now among our ranks, would the Autobots not hold their suspicions towards him should their base be discovered? You took the risk in reporting to me, and I will not all your effort to be wasted so easily."
The mention of a seeker femme caught Megatron's attention, but only to bring forth a chuckle. "Moonwing... was it? I am not concerned with her. While she is by all means a traitor to our cause, she was among the weakest of our ranks, constantly failing in her missions. However, should you feel this to be a cover, then by all means.. continue your watch."
Kaon listened closely; of course their double-agent would avoid giving away the base. But when he explained why, Kaon understood. The Autobots were on edge. They would suspect anyone who left that wasn't one of the medics and that included Firelaunch. They couldn't afford to lose someone who was good at gathering information.
He then vented softly. Communication officers? He would definitely be called upon around the same time as Soundwave. "Then it appears Soundwave and I will have our work cut out for us. Yes, I am volunteering my skills as the communications officer of the Decepticon Justice Division. We will need every servo we can get. Remember that, fellow Decepticons..." His voice was quite eerie at the moment.
He would seem to turn to Megatron. "My lord, I do hope I am not speaking out of turn to say that perhaps we should make an example of her as we would Dreadwing. We can scarcely afford any traitor to be allowed to get away."
And why was the medical team called in again? Breakdown crossed his arms, listening, his optic trained on Firelaunch. But when would they finally get to take down the Autobot base? He wanted his fight with the Wreckers, and he wanted it as soon as possible. He couldn't help it if he wanted a fight. That was what he was best at!
Of course, the Justice Edgelord was wanting to strike the 'traitor' immediately. Primus, it seemed like Kaon had absolutely no respect for Megatron! Why would he question Megatron when Megatron knew best? Ugh, he just wanted to rip the optic-less mech's helm off but he knew if he even tried he'd be branded a traitor. Not to mention he was pretty sure that he'd get electrocuted from just touching the guy.
At least Tarn probably wasn't so arrogant.
"I ain't normally so rude to ask this, but is there anything related to any mines or anything the medical team can take care of?" Breakdown needed someone to get to the point, damn it. He didn't need to be here just listening without action!
Forth silently flexed his claws as he paused, imagining being able to find the Autobots and causing them some pain. No, he would love nothing more than to cause some mayhem with the humans they seemed so fond of, maybe even tearing apart the little places of their base for his own amusement. His magnetism abilities weren't overly strong, but that didn't mean he couldn't do some damage and Forth was more than willing to jump at the chance.
His glowing yellow optics were full of glee at the prospect of battle, but it took all he had not to show his inward excitement. "The blue Bulk has a point, when do we get to kick some Autobot skidplate?" Forth asked, agreeing with Breakdown and eager to get his claws dirty, not even remotely caring for the derogatory term minicons tended to have towards the larger Cybertronians.
Firelaunch rubbed his chin for a long minute, debating if he should truly take the risk of telling the location. Sure, the blame could be turned towards the traitor Jazz but at the same time any suspicious behavior could make the Autobots jump immediately on anyone else. "Very well my liege, you make a fair point." Firelaunch finally spoke, conceding into the tyrant's logic but not with some reluctance of what this could potentially cause in the coming future.
"A few miles outside Jasper, Nevada, in an old missile silo the humans used for one of their wars. I'd be personally willing to lead you there by tracking my signal or someone tailing me even my lord." Firelaunch was telling them this much, at this rate he might as well play the unfortunate slip up of being tailed by a Decepticon. But there was still wiggle room to be able to pull off a story of why any of their enemies could potentially be following him. It was a gamble, but he was willing to take it.
But Firelaunch turned his gaze towards Breakdown, only able to shrug, "Just the usual planning ahead of time far as I know." The red and black mech could only shrug. Far as he knew, the Autobots were always preparing for chances of coming across Decepticon energon mines. If they were planning a major strike, he wasn't aware of it.
Not exactly what he had wanted to hear, but better.
"Very well. I suppose we could.. simulate a chase and have the vehicons follow you to the base. Of course, we would know better." Megatron's stoic faceplate was quickly infected with annoyance as the others soon began to question when they could attack the Autobots, or simply do 'things' in Breakdown's case. Even Kaon wasn't being quite as uncouth!
Closing his optics for a moment, he huffed. "The Autobots will receive punishment for their crimes in due time. For now, we plan our next course of action. However, there is also the matter of dealing with our traitors." At this, he looked to Kaon.. probably the one he trusted the most in this entire room. It seemed that he also wanted Moonwing to experience what happened to those who betrayed the cause. "I personally do not see reason due to her lack of efficiency.. but you are correct, but do not rank her above Dreadwing on Tarn's list. He will be brought to me on his knees, begging for the mercy that he will never receive."
Megatron scowled, one more enraged at the thought of Dreadwing. "Anything else to report, Firelaunch?"
Kaon seemed to listen in with a rather intent nature. To the untrained optic he almost appeared to be "sleeping" or even, Primus forbid, bored. But that was not the case. He was just objectively trying to process the information as it came into his audials. To separate it from sensory stimuli like the ship's hum, the ventilations of the bots in the room. It was a lot to take in for the communications specialist, whose hearing was extremely sensitive to make up for the lack of sight.
"Of course. Dreadwing will remain the Decepticon Justice Division's top priority. As the Listkeeper, I see no reason to go against your will. I will in due diligence be placing her on the list, though not a priority as Dreadwing is." He would slide out a datapad, seeming to type sightlessly but accurately. It would be near impossible for anyone but him to be able to hear the subtle blips that were meant to guide him on such a visual medium.
"Please feel free to report anything. Those we could take as captives and the like, for example." He did enjoy captives. After all, Pharma had been a source of great enjoyment.
Bulk. Oh yes. He loved being called that. Not. Okay, he was fine with Knock Out calling him that, but come on, it was Knock Out. Breakdown trusted the red speedster not to use it to mean anything derogatory.
"I'll be sure to check on the mines and check on our medical supplies, then. Never too soon to think about either one, I guess." He did just want to make sure that the mining division and the medical team had a role in everything. "Oh! Any information I should pass along to Knock Out, while I'm at it? I mean, this is an information meeting and all and I should probably pass important stuff along to Knock Out since he's Chief Medical Officer. Sorry he couldn't be here with a surgery and all..."
