Out in the Night

Shane didn't even last a second waiting after he jumped in. Though it was rather easy to figure out how the car worked. He didn't start driving in any particular direction, rather he picked one. And despite his driving skills being less-than-adequate, he was thankful that so far he had gotten out of the parking position without crashing and was driving down the street. "Man this baby purrs," he muttered. "So are you from Crown City? I've been here a little while... Haven't noticed this car around..."

Shane paused a moment as he realized that seemed to imply that he spent a lot of time in sketchy parts of town. "Ummmm not that I spend a lot of time watching street racers."

Now that Shane was behind the wheel, he'd find Override to be a remarkably smooth ride. Slowing down was just as easy as speeding up, turning on a dime was absolutely not an issue, but strangely enough the upper limit on the speedometer was an infinity symbol. Probably just a stylistic choice on Lori's part, as far as he knew. All of the heavy duty Velocitronian upgrades were deactivated at the moment. Override wasn't about to have a human accidentally send her crashing into a building at mach 5.

He was handling her well for somebody with such little experience, she thought. "Nope, not from around this neighborhood," stellar neighborhood, that is, "...came for the racing, but mostly business."

“Business huh? What kind of business is a street racer in?” Shane asked now actually very curious given how unusual this person seemed to be. “Don’t tell me you’re some sort of businesswoman. You really don’t strike me as the type.” He jested slightly.

"Well good!" she answered, a smirk forming at the corner of her lips, "Because I'm not a businesswoman; I'm an ambassador, you see." No point in keeping it a secret forever, Override thought. Still, best to ease him into it. She hadn't planned to keep it a secret forever, and despite primarily being on Earth to assist the Autobots with their little space-time problem, she was still technically Velocitron's ambassador to the planet.

Shane arched his eyebrows in surprise. In all the things he’d imagined she could be an ambassador was definitely not high on the list. He clicked his tongue a bit, his eyes deep in thought. “Well. A street racing ambassador... And here I thought I’d seen everything the other day.” He laughed.

"What happened the other day to raise your expectations?" she asked. At this point Override was fairly certain that Shane wasn't taking her anywhere in particular, just driving around to kill time. They hadn't crashed yet though.

Shane’s eyes widened, surprised to be asked that. How did one explain a giant dinosaur in the woods exactly? He was pretty sure he’d end up in the looney bin by the end of the night. “Uh believe me when I say you wouldn’t believe me,” he explained. “Let’s Just say something scared the hell out of me and it wasn’t the store owner chasing me.” He laughed, given he now knew said “Dinobot” was hardly scary.

"Come on... I've seen some pretty outrageous things in my day. I can handle it, trust me," the hologram winked.

Shane chuckled uneasily, his eyes matching hers. Did he actually say anything about this? These guys were supposed to be finding out after all and it might be bad. But maybe if he said it with enough jestful sarcasm it could come off as hypothetical. “I uh met a giant robot out there,” he said with a joking voice. “From another planet. Turned into a T-Rex.”

He then added with a very serious tone. “Obviously I’m kidding Aline’s don’t exist. But I did think I saw Bigfoot.” He said nervously.

Override's proverbial heart skipped a beat at the mention of a giant robot that could turn into other things. So he had met other Cybertronians! This was perfect!

The GT40 suddenly hit its own brakes without Shane's input, just outside the edge of Crown City. A massive smile was plastered on Lori's face, much to the human's confusion she assumed. "Oooh you're about to see something else alright..."

The driver side door opened all on its own, bidding Shane to vacate the seat. "Hop out for a sec', you won't regret it."

Shane didn’t know what to make of what just happened. Had the car just stopped on its own? He swallowed slightly really not sure what to make of this. And now this lady was asking him to get out? Outside of town? God Shane, what have you gotten yourself into this time? Carefully stepping outside, he held up his hands a little. “OK, ok if you’re going to rob me I don’t have much. Just a few dollars in my bag and a couple of sandwiches,” he managed shakily. “I won’t tell anyone, either. I don’t do cops, considering I pickpocket to get by. So you don’t have to get violent either I’ll give you whatever you want.”

It was something he’d had to do a few times after all. And hopefully it would help in this situation.

And just like that, Lori was gone. The hologram vanished abruptly to leave the vehicle completely empty. The Velocitronian was excited to say the least. The GT40's frame opened up in several key areas, revealing themselves to be sections of plates which then slid over and under each other. As the vehicle continued to morph, it stood up, taking a more humanoid shape. Override reached her full height as her transformation completed; she'd made an effort to draw it out just a little bit longer than usual, for dramatic effect. The Velocitronian looked down at Shane, resting a hand on her hip.

"Well hi!"

To say that Shane’s eyes bulged out of his skull may have been an understatement. He nearly fell on his butt as he watched the robot transform. So they were cars too now? Well. Maybe Grimlock had mentioned cars. Right now he couldn’t remember. He let out a deep breath. “Man I always knew there was something crazy about this place,” he breathed. “But you guys are cars? Whoa... Talk about a trip.”

The red and white bot dropped down to sit in front of Shane, leaning forward with her legs crossed. The Velocitronian now shared Lori's smile, happy to have finally revealed herself.

"Nice to meet you officially, Shane. I'm Override."

Well then so this was really happening. Shane tried his best to gain his composure again after all this wasn’t his first rodeo. He felt a lingering feeling of nervousness for a moment but slowly nodded. “Uh it’s uh good to meet you too,” he managed. “Man ambassador. That’s uh one way of putting it I guess huh? Though I wasn’t expecting from another planet.””

After a moment his freak out from before had sunk in. The pit in his stomach grew again, nervousness of what she made of that building. “Oh and for the record I uh didn’t actually mean I avoid the police because I pickpocket. I uh... I mean, maybe once in a while,” he added nervously. “But you’re probably better off just forgetting that whole conversation ever happened.”

Shane wished he had a mute button for himself right now. But he really could never keep his mouth shut when nervous.
