He really didn't want to go back.
Well, he knew he couldn't stay here, even if he wanted to. That Fowler guy would have a cow. But as he watched the beautiful sunset from the roof, he really didn't want to go back to the group home either. The home had just added three infants to the home, and he knew his chances of sleep were low. Sure, he loved kids, and was good with them, but he could do without the shrieking of babies at night, thank you very much.
So right now, he had a sketchpad out and had decided to draw the sunset. Even though it was getting dark, that was going to be his excuse as to why he hadn't called a cab or gotten Ratchet yet. He tended to be super-detailed with his art, and most would believe he was taking that much time on it anyway.
Even if he was eventually going to have to leave. Or again, Fowler wouldn't have the cow, he'd have the whole barn.

Today was absolute scrap, Ray thought as she made her way up to roof. Not only did she fail the mission but she made a complete fool of herself. ALl she had to do was scout some energon, not get found and shot at by a bunch of cons. And on top of it all she never did find the energon.
"Debería haber sido más cuidadoso! (I should have been more careful)" Ray hissed angrily at herself. Once again she had failed. She could keep saying sorry forever.
She looked up in surprise to she that she was not alone. There was a young human up here. He seemed to be dejected much like herself. At a loss on what to do Ray did what she does best. She tried to make things better.
"Hola - I mean - Greetings," Ray winced slightly at her words. She still kept switching between Spanish and English, even though English was downloaded into her processor. "Are you alright?"
Ray looked at the human youth in concern, her big baby blue optics watched for any indication of distress or annoyance at her presence. She simply wanted to see if he was alright.

Dylan nearly jumped out of his skin.
He turned his head towards the newcomer a bit, tilting his head. He hadn't seen her before, despite having been around the 'Bots a while now. But at the same time, he knew most of, if not all the Autobots were pretty OK. Although he decided to keep his guard up, just in case. It was only ever his nature to do so.
Standing to his feet a bit, he shrugged. "I'm fine, just uh... Drawing," he held up his sketchpad for emphasis. "Were you the one shouting Spanish a second ago? I didn't know 'Bots knew languages other than English."

Ray leaned in to see the sketchpad. This human had talent, Ray thought to herself. Very nice indeed.
"Oh. Yes. The Spanish," Ray replied awkwardly. "Well, you see, when I first crash landed on Earth I landed in a place called Spain. So naturally, I learned Spanish first. But I have English downloaded into my processor, so I can understand you. I just have a tendency to speak it every now and then."
She paused for a moment. Should she ask what he was doing alone? No not yet. She didn't introduce herself.
"Oh. My apologies. I seem to have forgotten my manners. I am Ray. And you are?"

Ah, that definitely made sense. He knew from Ratchet that Autobots pretty much landed on any part of the globe. Most of them came to Jasper eventually, as that was where Optimus was. But he'd heard stories of all kinds as well. "Dang, if I were you I might have stayed in Spain. Jasper's pretty dull when there's no robot action going on."
Dylan nodded his head a bit. "Dylan, nice to meet you Ray."

She chucked at the comment. Spain was amazing. It was beautiful in a way she couldn't describe. She did miss Spain, but being around other bots in a safe stable place felt good.
"Well Spain is nice. But this place isn't to bad. Some of the sights are actually really nice. Perhaps I could take you some time," She replied. "Is something troubling you?"

Heh, going to Spain could be fun, but of course Dylan wasn't about to say he could. His social worker already called him enough about extended stays with the "glee club" he said he'd joined to explain his comings and goings to the base. "Heh, maybe when I'm eightteen, until then I don't see overseas travel in my future."
At the question, Dylan realized it probably did look weird that he was out there. "Oh, nah, not really that bad. I'm just trying to go home as late as possible," he then added. "My group home just got triplets, three month olds. Needless to say it's been "fun"."

"Yeah you'd definitely like it. It has such beautiful scenery and an artist like you could definitely capture it on paper." Ray closed her eyes as she remembered her time in Spain. The motorbike races. The music. The sights. Ray listened carefully to his words. Three month old human younglings? She had never seen one, but they coudn't be that different from Cybertronian younglings.
"Oh. I had my fair share of dealing with younglings back on Cybertron," Ray commented with a smile on her face. "They can be a hassle. Do you not have a family of your own?"
As soon as she asked the question she wanted to take it back. It was never a good idea to ask such a personal question. How could she be so insensitive?

“Yeah, kinda what I want to do. I mean, painting Cybertronians is better. But of course I can’t exactly show those to anyone,” he doianed it wasn’t a bad dream to have after all. He really enjoyed painting and did want to one day have a gallery somewhere. Who knew maybe one day the world would know of the Autoobts and he could show those too.
“Yeah, love kids and all. But babies, I mean they cry at night and can get a bit much...”
At the question of his family, Dylan admittedly chewed his lip. He did technically have family, a dad in jail that had given him his fair share of physical and mental scars. But he chose not to think about that. “Technically I do. But I’m better off not having any at all...” it was a cryptic answer, just the way he liked it.

An awkward silence washed over them. She really shouldn't have asked. She wanted to apologize but didn't know how. He didn't seem too visibly upset but still. So he did have family, but he was better off without them? Perhaps they weren't caring like her own carriers had been to her. She knew not everybot, or every life form, was as fortunate as her in that aspect. She wanted to change the subject. But how?
"Would you like to go for a drive?" Ray asked wanting to change the subject. "It's fine if you don't. I just thought you'd like a little high speed thrill?"

Dylan looked thoughtfully for a while during the silence. How dumb he must have looked, the fact that a bunch of aliens were a better makeshift “family” to him than his actual one - and none of them were technically family at all. Sometimes he wondered how pathetic he looked to the other Bots compared to Jack, Miko, and Raf. Like there was something wrong with him - something that Dylan sometimes wondered was true. Maybe there was something wrong with him.
The Autobots voice grabbed his attention as he turned to her. A drive? Well it didn’t sound too bad. “What do you transform into anyway?”

The femme transformed into a small bright red and yellow Aprilia RS125. She remembered the first time she had scanned the vehicle. It was a hot summer day back in Spain long before coming to the Autobot base. The racers where speeding down the dirt roads. But none of the bikes caught her attention quite like this one. It's bright colors spoke to her. It's speed excited her, and she had kept the same form ever since. "Es una Aprilia. I scanned it back in Spain," Ray explained as she turned to her other side where 'Spain' was clearly painted on. "A couple of humans were having a motorcycle race. This one caught my optics the most."

Dylan’s eyes bulged. That was definitely one nice bike, and though he was still a good year from riding (he had just turned fifteen) he couldn’t help but admire them from afar. Dylan shook his head a little, looking it over. “Man you sure have good taste,” he whistled a little. “I’m more of a Suzuki guy and can’t even drive these technically for a year but this, this is definitely a beaut.”

Ray giggled at the compliment. It may have been small, but it was nice to meet someone who enjoyed her taste in vehicles. It was getting darker. She knew that the Dylan would probably have to go home at some point.
"Gracias, Thank you. I appreciate it" She replied. "When is it that you have to be home? I have no problem taking you where you need to go."
She felt slight sadness tug at her spark. She knew that he would have to go eventually, and that offering him a ride was the nice thing to do. But she didn't want him to go. He seemed nice, and being so new to the base a new friend was actually quite nice.
