"No problem." Bumblebee forced a smile, "He sorta had it coming. With the way he treats you and the other kids...something just snapped. I've never been able to do anything to help Raf, but I'll be damned if I can't do something now." Truth be told, Bumblebee was inwardly panicking at his actions. Nowadays, humans had all sorts of ways of recording such things, phones, cameras, just about anything. And if someone caught that on video...Primus, he didn't even want to think what could happen if someone came across that image or video.
'Calm down Bumblebee, the bots rarely look at the internet. No one will know.' The muscle car tried to mentally reassure himself, over and over again he ran it through his mind. But, he knew what he had done was pushing it. He rarely, if ever, broke Optimus' rules, and to think if the Autobot leader discovered his brief slip in anger made him inwardly cringe.
But he was jolted from his inner thoughts when he heard someone yell for the racers to get ready. Finally, they could get started. And maybe set his mind at ease with his actions, engine revving as he rolled forward. "Think things are about to get a lot more intense." He chuckled lightly, trying to set aside these feelings of guilt and focusing about on the real reason they had come there. But the roar of Vince's own car made it rather difficult for Bee not to feel some competitive feelings return, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Probably want to make sure your buckle is good and tight."
He supposed the mech had a point. Vince tended to get too into kicking others to the curb like that obviously. But he didn’t want to get Bee in trouble at the same time. He knew how Optimus was about hurting humans and the last thing he wanted was to make Bee get a stern talking to. He got into enough of that for the two of them really. Usually every day, obviously.
“I’m uh... Sorry if it could get you in trouble though,” Dylan explained - frowning a little. “I mean if anyone says anything I’ll tell them it was my fault. I’m the one that dragged us here. And the one that Vince was picking on. No reason for you to take the fall for defending me.” He explained to the mech.
At the mention of fastening his seatbelt, Dylan went straight to doing so. Bee was probably right about that, especially the way Bee drove in these things. Which was usually very well - but at the same time was fast and dangerous all at once. “Heck yeah! Let’s do this!” He added with a serious grin. “Let’s make these losers eat our dust.”
"No Dylan. If anyone does discover what I did, I'll take responsibility for it." Bumblebee told him, knowing punching Vince had been all his doing and had nothing to do with Dylan other than defending him and his human friends. "Whatever punishment comes my way I'll handle it, it wouldn't be the first time I got in trouble, nor will it be the last." Bumblebee assured him, somewhat easing about the situation with knowing one way or another he was not going to allow the human teenager take all the blame.
But Bumblebee put his focus on the skimpy dressed female human who came in front of the racers, holding up the handkerchief to signal for the racers to get ready. The muscle car's engine went from purring idly to revving loudly, a roar of sorts to express his readiness. Moments later, she moved her arms sharply downward and Bee was speeding off the starting line alongside the other racers, pushing his form forward, easily speeding past two of them and going neck and neck with Vince.
"By the way, how many laps do we have this time? I forgot to ask." Bee inquired towards Dylan, his accelerator pressing forward, speed gradually increasing as they went along.
But at the same time he knew better than to argue with a Bot. They were nothing if not stubborn most of the time. He nodded his head and tried to relax. He guessed he could accept that he would take his part of the blame at least, but on the other hand... “We’ll both take the blame. I mean come on, we both got ourselves involved in this.” He finally replied honestly. “Now chin up! We got this, and you got a reputation to uphold if I remember correcrtly.” He joked.
He turned his head to Vince in a nearby car. Who was shooting him a pointed glare as he gave him the bird without even really looking the bullies way. Oh well he would have to deal with his bruised pride... And face. “Four laps, first one back here in one piece and not arrested by then wins obviously,” Dylan joked. “Betting money now that Vince goes down first. He’s already in the police crosshairs and all for last time.” He chuckled.
"Yea, a reputation I hope I can keep on the down low." Bumblebee mused. He knew he had been street racing quite a few times, once with Jack and the rest of the time it had been with Dylan, having more than earned a rep for his speed and driving. In the racing underground, Bee might as well have been a legend.
The former scout rolled his optics as Vince flipped them the bird. Though, it was fortunate enough that was the only thing Vince was trying to do, and not ram them off the road and into the wall if he was ticked enough. "Can't go my full speed like I'd want unfortunately, then four laps would be no sweat." Bee grumbled under his breathe, but knew better than to press his luck too much. "Little extra speed though, that won't hurt no one." Bumblebee's holoform gave a slight smirk, turning his head to look at Vince and giving a mocking wave before he really hit the gas and shot past the resident bully's car with ease.
"Can you see his face?" Bee asked Dylan, focusing on the road ahead as he sped forward.
Yeah that was true. There was no way that anyone was going to find out, he told himself. They were going to do better this time and before they knew it they were gonna be richer too. “Hey! No one can fault us if we make money either. We’ll see how they feel with a couple hundred more dollars in our pockets.” He explained brightly.
Awww having Bee go full speed was fun. But he did understand at the same time that it wouldn’t be much fun if they just won in the blink of an eye. But then again, slower for Bumblebee was at least still pretty dang fast. He grinned. Looking out the window as they hightailed it past Vince and began to shout back. “Ha! Eat my dust jerk!” With a laugh.
Pulling his head back in the window, he added. “Oh he’s pissed. He looks like he could scream!”
"Don't you mean your pockets?" Bumblebee pointed out with a small laugh. "I don't really have a need for human money after all Dylan, it'd be wasted on me. Well, unless I decided to get some detailing done or something, but even then Ratchet normally handles all that." Bumblebee pointed out. Though it wouldn't be the first time the mech had considered doing something crazy just for the hell of it. Maybe he could get a Cybertronian version of a tattoo...
Focusing back on the road though, Bumblebee decided to consider that thought another time, drifting around the corner through the water ways. "Scream huh? That's not good enough." Bee couldn't help the wicked grin that came to his holoform's face, "Like Arcee remarked once, we wanna make this guy cry." Perhaps racing brought the more aggressive side of Bumblebee out, but the yellow and black mech absolutely hated Vince as much as his human allies did. The young teen was always pushing his luck, walking around like he owned the whole town. Maybe it was about time someone knocked him down a few pegs in the only way he knew.
"Alright, we're almost back to the finish!" Bee told Dylan, slowly picking up more speed.
