...You know me too well, but then again that's to be expected. Especially now that we're Conjunx Endura. Just thinking about it makes me happy.
To: Wheeljack
I know it sounds impossible, but that's why I want to check. Just to be sure. Vertigo and nausea are both some of the symptoms of one that's carrying, and since we spark bonded.. it's a possibility. I'm going to take a look at the image you sent me now, and I'll message you back when I'm certain.
As soon as Ratchet opened the image on his datapad, there was no question what the cause of Wheeljack's troubles were. Somehow.. they had defied the odds. The medic had firmly believed that if this were to happen, it would have been him instead of Wheeljack, but it seemed that fate had other plans in store. He double checked it, even triple checked it, but it was clear as day what was going on.
To: Wheeljack
Wheeljack? I need to call you.
Ratchet set the datapad down, comming his Wrecker. This was going to be a shock, but it wasn't something that could be ignored. <//"Wheeljack.. I would have messaged this to you, but I felt it was important that I say it instead of sending it to you as a message. I looked at the image, and.. I know exactly what's going on. I know you said it's impossible, but it's right there. Right beside your spark. You're carrying."//>
i mean. its probably a virus, but i guess it wouldnt hurt to check and be sure
To: Ratchet
the odds are low of it bein cuz im sparked up anyways
In all honesty, Wheeljack didn’t truly start to become worried until his last text went unanswered for a long time.
He had always known that, due to the polarity of his spark, the likelihood of him carrying a newspark alongside his own was incredibly slim, and he had accepted that. For the longest time he’d never really wanted a family (too complicated), but with Ratchet… it was different. Everything was always different with Ratchet, and wanting to settle down with him and have a couple of little Wreckers was a novel desire for Wheeljack. Besides, of the two of them, Ratchet had been the one that wanted to carry, and so if anyone would get sparked up it would probably be him.
Which was why his spark gave a bit of a jolt when Ratchet told him they needed to talk.
It was no surprise that poor Wheeljack sat in shocked silence after Ratchet delivered the ‘happy news’. Ratchet would not lie to him, after all, and Ratchet was never wrong about these sorts of things. <<”... What?”>> The Wrecker choked, finally, after gawping blankly at the adjacent wall for several kliks. <<” … No, no, there’s gotta be a mistake. Sunshine, I can’t be carryin’, you know that, it’s-”>> The word ‘impossible’ died in his mouth as fear suddenly came over him. If he was carrying, then- there was a kid in there alongside his spark and-
<<”I-I wanted t’have kids, but not- Not now, now is too dangerous,”>> He babbled, wildly gazing around the interior of The Jackhammer without really seeing anything. <<”An’... frag. Sunsh- Ratchet,”>> And then, uncharacteristically, his voice trembled. <<”Ratchet, I dunno if I can do this.">>
And then, in the quietest of whispers: <<"I’m scared.”>>
Ratchet wasn't surprised in the least when @wheeljack had been startled by the news that he was carrying, but he certainly hadn't expected the level of shock that came of it. Normally when one received news they were carrying, they were either happy or shocked.
But Wheeljack.. sounded afraid.
<<"I know.. I'm worried too, especially knowing how we're going to have to raise this little one, but I want to do the best we can. I know it probably doesn't ease your worries any, but.. losing the newspark will hurt you too. I've.. seen it happen before, but I promise you. I won't let that happen. You have one of the best medics you could ever ask for as the sire to your newspark. I'll make sure everything is taken care of.">>
And that's when it had been confirmed. His Conjunx really was scared. It killed Ratchet to know how much this terrified Wheeljack, and he wanted to do everything he could to comfort him. He wanted to be there with him. Wheeljack hadn't wanted him to bother coming out earlier, but maybe with this new revelation..
<<"Wheeljack, what are your coordinates? I'm going to power up the ground bridge and I want to meet up with you. I think right now, you need me there with you. Would.. that be alright? You're my love. My Conjunx. I can't leave you like this.">>
It pained him to admit his fear. For Wheeljack, the admission of fear was like a show of weakness, and Wreckers could not afford to ever be weak… but who else could he trust with this weakness than his conjunx? He trusted Ratchet with his life, and would gladly bare his spark to him again to show him just how much he loved and cherished him. If he had to admit he was afraid of something, it would be to Ratchet.
<<”I-”>> His voice caught in his throat. He was about to say, ‘I’m in the middle of nowhere, ain’t much for scenery’, or ‘Nah, don’t waste a groundbridge just for me’, but try as he might he could not wrangle the words - because he wanted Ratchet there, just as desperately as a starving mech wanted for energon.
Wheeljack vented once, willing himself to calm down, and then silently pinged the coordinates to Ratchet.
Wheeljack had seen Ratchet's fear plenty of times before, though never to this degree. Wheeljack was panicking, which in turn made Ratchet panic. He was calm about it, but knew that his Conjunx Endura needed him. Right now, until he received his coordinates, all he could do was comfort him vocally.
<<"Shhh... It's alright, Wheeljack. I'm right here. Everything is going to be ok. As soon as I know where you are, I'll be on my way and I'll stay with you as long as you need me too. Even if you just need me to come out there so we can return to base. Whatever you need me to do, I'll do it. We'll get through this together. I promise.">>
Ratchet did his best to soothe Wheeljack by the means of his voice, but even the medic knew that it wasn't going to be enough. He needed to be there, and once he got the coordinates from Wheeljack, he immediately prepared his medical kit and powered up the ground bridge.
<<"I'm coming, Wheeljack. Just sit tight. I'll be there as soon as I can.">>
